Classic good diner food and coffee. The kids ate everything. Stopped when we were driving through. Service was fast and friendly. The bathroom is through the kitchen which feels odd but everyone was very nice :)
Absolutely amazing. The food was good, the staff were friendly and attentive. Also, shout-out to the staff on Tues Sept 23, for all of the suggestions of things to do with our twins during our cross country trip. 5 stars isn't enough, they need more
Perfect quaint diner. Serving shredded potato hashbrowns and delightful biscuits and gravy. Great place to stop for breakfast.
This small, local eatery is the place you go if you want good, home cooking. I imagine this will become a popular spot for locals and college kids alike when they miss their mom's home made meals. Griff's is open for breakfast and dinner. They feature a full, regular menu as well as nightly specials. We came on a Thursday night to try their Bierocks. The Bierocks were a twist on the traditional dish with both green and red cabbage, thin carrot slices and two kinds of cheese included with the ground beef. The bread to stuffing ratio was perfect (see pics). Having a child who is a picky eater was no problem for the staff of Griff's. Using the ingredients they had on hand, they were able to create a non menu dish just for his enjoyment. HUGE shout out to the Griff's staff for this! This is the kind of exemplary service you can only find at a small city diner where they really care about their customers! From all the various dishes we tried tonight, the stand out dish was above and beyond the CHEESY POTATOES. Every person at my table who tried it only had good things to say about it. The cheesy potatoes were the hit of this culinary adventure! Make the trip out to Griff's for delicious, home made food. I want to come back sometime to try all their other nightly specials. #NatsJourneys #KCFoodie #CulinaryAdventures #ExploreYourCity #EmporiaKS #HighlyRecommended
Best Rueben sandwich EVER. An extensive variety of breakfast and lunch choices. Home cooking and a warm and inviting place to eat and go, or stay awhile. I visit Emporia once a month; this is now my go-to place to eat.
Love little hometown diners! We went about 5 minutes out of our way to stop for breakfast because of the high reviews. They did not disappoint! The inside is cozy with about 8 tables with 4-5 seats. The black and white checked tablecloths remind me of grandmas kitchen table where you took your time to enjoy her homemade cooking. Everything is cooked fresh and served pretty quick. When we arrived at 7am, the day after Christmas, there was already a group of locals hanging out and another group of workers came in before their day started to eat breakfast together. I love the community feel, like Cheers...everybody knows your name.
Good little dinner. The food is good, service is descent but the restaurant is small with limited seating. I prefer commercial street dinner but if you don't want to wait outside for 20+ minutes, Grijff's is a great backup with very little to no wait time.
Griff's Diner has a statement that says Best Breakfast South Of The Tracks and I must agree with this one. I walked in and found a seat and really liked all the natural lighting that came in through the windows. It was a bright sunny morning and not cold for February but my tummy was rumblin so I looked over the menu and went with a Southwest Style Omlet that was perfectly cooked and full of sausage and everything southwest and was topped with melted cheese by the looks of it. It came with some tasty hashbrowns and I ordered my toast to be wheat and got an unsweetened tea to wash er all down. I was very impressed with the two kind waitresseses and brought me the menu when I first sat down and the other waitress made sure my cup stayed refilled. The atmosphere was very relaxing and not chaotic. No dark lit room waiting elbow to elbow to get my Breakfast, just a table all to myself to watch traffic go by on Commercial while I could hear some older gentlemen talkin amongst themselves in the background. My breakfast arrived shortly after and my omelet was delicious and needed nothing. Every bite was amazing and the hashbrowns were just right. I don't eat ketchup any more but they didn't need anything to dress them up and neither did the wheat toast. This was the perfect ideal American Breakfast that gave me the energy to get through my morning as I waited for my windows to get tinted on my mom's car that was a block down the street. Will I be returning soon. Absolutely, and I have been there before to get their biscuits and Gravy which were just as delicious awhile back. Griff's Diner is the place to go to get a good meal with amazing service and Thank You Griff's Diner for giving me a wonderful experience.
