The Francis Southern Table & Bar

The Francis After locating the entrance, we were escorted to a table on the second floor. The decor is what I would call upscale rustic. The food is local, comfort, and really good. I ordered the gumbo. Pretty good gumbo, I appreciate the okra flavor and crawfish tails. We also ordered the crab cakes and the fancy fries. Both were very good. Our server was Taylor. He was very professional and attentive. Upstairs was great as we had it to ourselves. Great small town restaurant with good prices. I would definitely one back.

Updated: Happy to say we did return... Our experience was such an improvement. Taylor, our server, was absolutely on point. Thank you! Food was again, very enjoyable. We will be back when in town! The food was absolutely delicious — everything we ordered tasted fresh and flavorful, and the atmosphere itself was very nice. Unfortunately, the service really missed the mark. Our side salads didn’t arrive until the end of the meal, served as if they were dessert. It took a long time to receive even half of our drink order, and we had to remind our waitress, Destiny, three times for the rest. She never came to check on our table, and I eventually had to go downstairs to the bar myself to order and carry our drinks back up. When I let her know, there was no apology — just the drinks added to the bill. For most of the meal, she stood talking at another table while we helped ourselves to to-go boxes, napkins, and even asked for our own checks. When she finally came over, she said how busy she was, though it was clear she wasn’t tending to our table. We were disappointed to see a 20% automatic gratuity added for our large party, especially considering the service. She also mentioned the tip would be split among the group, which wasn’t accurate. We even tipped extra on top of that. We did speak with the manager,after paying and he was willing to try to make it right for us. Based on other reviews, it seems this is a recurring issue with large groups. Despite the experience, we plan to return in December and hope to see improvements — because the food truly was wonderful and worth giving another chance.

The fried ribeye and mashed potatoes with the green beans is the only choice! 11/10 It was so delicious! My friends got the double, and triple-fried platters with the stuffed potatoes and they were also good. 8/10. Service was great, we sat outside which was very nice. We will be back again!

October 4 was my birthday. But since it is now OK to celebrate your birthday throughout the month, my friend invited me to celebrate my birthday at her favorite restaurant to my surprise her favorite restaurant, which to my surprise was the restaurant that I had passed many times on my way to different parts of Louisiana was one in the same “The Francis“. I was elated!!! Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess asked us where we wanted to be seated, and, I said wherever we will be served the quickest! So she directed us to the patio. The patio was delightful!!! In the center of it is this large oak tree with long limbs covered with thick leaves to shade you from the sun, but yet provides a cool breeze when needed! I loved sitting out there! Within five minutes or less, our server came she was amazing! Funny, sweet, attentive, she was everything you would want embodied in your server! She had us laughing so much I’ve felt she needed her own sitcom!! but in the mist of all of that humor and laughter, she paid attention to our needs and addressed them. I have never been so well served. I think her name is Alicia and if you ever have the pleasure of eating at the Francis, you must request to be served by Alicia. She, is worth a visit to the restaurant!!! For appetizers, we ordered fried eggplant with a marinara sauce, absolutely delicious crunchy on the outside soft on the inside delicately seasoned perfectly accompanied by a marinara sauce I ordered for my entrée, a ribeye with asparagus and a friend ordered a chicken fried steak. Both were absolutely delicious the meal portions. Well if you close your eyes, you thought you were you were visiting your mom, and she had just fixed your plate, and put it in front of you. Yeah, they are that generous!! My ribeye was a thin cut, but large and cooked to perfection! Tender, juicy, and delicious!!!It came with asparagus, perfectly seasoned and crunchy. A dinner salad and garlic bread! I am so well please with my birthday meal that I’m thinking about going with my friend next month on her birthday. It was just that good!!! If you are ever in the Saint Francisville area and want to treat your face to a wonderful meal, you must go to “The Francis “ you will not be disappointed!!!

The food was amazing and the service was great. Fresh air from the patio, beautiful sunny day and great company. Will definitely go back again!

I was in town to visit The Myrtles Plantation for the first time since the late 1980s, so it was a Bucket List day for me. I had read good reviews about The Francis, so I had a late lunch there. I met and had a photo with the County Sheriff, nice guy. I ordered Crawfish Bisque and a garden salad with 999 island dressing with an unsweetened ice tea. My server was Olivia. Food was great, service was good and ambiance was terrific.

My wife and I went for our 52nd wedding anniversary! Our Waitress was Crystal J. She did an exceptional job explaining the menu and helping us with our decision! She also helped my sister from Dothan Alabama treat us to dessert. We bother ordering steaks. The were cooked to perfection! Would highly recommend Francis for all your dining.

I had never been here before. We had a FANTASTIC time!! Our server was AWESOME! She was very attentive, and answered all our questions. The food was DELICIOUS! I would go back again. The corn and lobster bisque was my favorite!!
