Heard about this place from my patient. He said it was his favorite place for a home cooked meal. I tried it & it is now MY go-to spot when I don't feel like cooking. The ladies in here are SO friendly & patient!! I love how they laugh & joke with each other & sometimes include the customers. They remind me of our small "kitchens" on James Island. I have told everyone about this spot. The food is plentiful, the price is reasonable & the service is AWESOME! KEEP IT UP, LADIES!!!
Small African American restaurant. We white folks just off the plane from NYC were greeted like old friends by the ladies behind the counter. And the food was great. Was going to get just a vegetable plate — the lima beans were fantastic (never thought I’d say those words). The fried pork chop out of this world. The cashier made sure I got the free cornbread. Oh yeah, the bread pudding was out of this world.
Went to the Hut with my father in law today… Good goshhhhhhhhhh the food was gooooood! Soul food is what you want, then soul food it what you will get and perfectly seasoned! Tonya
I'm still pinching myself after dining at Grandma's Kitchen! This soul food haven is a game-changer, and I'm not just saying that because the food is out of this world (although it totally is). The real magic happens when you step inside and are enveloped by the warmth and love of the three grandmas running the show. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like family. The grandmas greeted us with big hugs and smiles, and it felt like we were sitting down to Sunday dinner at our own grandma's house. The service was top-notch - attentive, friendly, and with just the right amount of sass. But let's get to the food - oh. my. goodness. The fried chicken was crispy perfection, the mac and cheese was creamy heaven, and the collard greens were so tender they just melted in my mouth. And don't even get me started on the cornbread... it was like a taste explosion in every bite. What truly sets Grandma's Kitchen apart, though, is the love and care that goes into every dish. You can taste the difference when food is made with heart, and these grandmas clearly pour their hearts and souls into every meal. If you're looking for a dining experience that'll make you feel like you're sitting on the porch with your favorite grandma, look no further than Grandma's Kitchen. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
Love the food and when the wonderful ladies serve me, it feels like getting a plate from your grandmother again. Love it
The absolute best southern food in the south !!! We come to this gem on a weekly basis when we're in town and they never fail. The Hut is a MUST STOP in Charleston
These ladies are doing the Lord's work. The food is always on point. I work close by, try not to eat out too often but maybe once a week, I gotta spoil myself and get lunch here. And they make sure to fill the plate, definitely worth the money spent.
Available parking. Free parking was right in front of the business. Dining was great. Sweet drinks. Home cooked food. They even have sardines and grits for those of us that enjoy it. Lemonade. Shrimp and grits were great as well.
