Bird River Inn

This is a great local place. We were visiting from out of town and really enjoyed eating here. The crab house is in the building to the left of the bar, not in the bar! The service was great and folks were kind. I think we were the only non-locals. The Old Bay wings were good, and the crab was really good. And it was a good value in our opinion. This is a must visit if you want the authentic local crab experience.

It's a bar and almost didn't think it was open. Cold beer, attentive server, delicious cream of crab soup. Tried broccoli and cheese bites, really good. Cod cakes and homemade meatloaf were pleasing. 2 beer, 2 appetizers and 2 dinners, $52. Nice!

Our first time here a week ago since it was rated highly for steamed crabs. Every seat around the bar was taken. This place is tiny! We secured a booth in the bar area, hoping it would promise quicker service. The ladies working were very nice but consumed with patrons sitting directly at the bar. The music was loud, but it was an awesome playlist of 90s rock and country. Boyfriend loved the vibe. I tried a natty boh on draft - loved it. They have N/A beers there too. Non-alcoholic Budweiser is pretty good! We ordered a dozen large steamed crabs which were delicious, but I had to chase a server down for a couple of mallets. Boyfriend said their mozzarella sticks with marinara were the best he’s ever had. He didn’t enjoy the cream of crab cup of soup, but I enjoyed the split soup bowl. The bikers eventually overtook the entire bar… there was standing room only and I could barely reach the bathroom to wash my hands since we didn’t have any moist towelettes for our crabby old bay fingers. We cornered a server for our check: $122. Not too shabby! Would we come back? Yes, absolutely. We would bring visitors here just to give ‘em the ole crabby experience. We would try to get there earlier next time.

Excellent food and drinks at great prices in general, but the crabs are something special and not to be missed! Highly recommend!

So where do I begin. This was my second time in Bird River Inn. The place is amazing, the service is above any expectations I was expecting from here and the service was outstanding. The drinks the food were excellent and the atmosphere was so friendly, it was amazing. I truly enjoyed my visit and I will continue to start making Bird River a regular stop for the hospitality and friendliness that I received there tonight. By the way bar food? Steamed Shrimp with Onions. Old Bay Wings and of course Steamed Crabs and Corn. Mouth watering and probably the best in Middle River MD Hon.

This is a nice rustic bar/restaurant supported by locals. It is decorated for Christmas and looked nice. The upper walls were filled with many large flat-screen tv's all on sports, I was bored with that, not being a sports fan. Please, we need a break. Truthfully, I did not realize this was a sports bar, I would have never come here knowing that. Well, ẁe entered and were told to sit anywhere, all we saw were high top tables and bar stools, we preferred a lower table and chairs, there were none, maybe in the back, no one seemed to be there. To the food, our server made suggestions after we asked. She was on the spot with the chicken wings (mild), and they were good-sized and market value.. My husband got the cheese steak sub with french fries (upcharge). He enjoyed the meal. All were served in paper lined plastic baskets. Our bill came, and after reviewing it, I gave her my cc. She returned, and the bill now was $3 higher. The difference was in the price of the cheesesteak sub. She said nothing about the increase, and I did not recall prices from the menu. I just paid it and left wondering if I was overreacting. May return in crab season. There is plenty of free parking.

July 2025 Crabs are still good but the $60 per dozen for medium was a surprise at how small they were, and not as meaty as some of my visits in the past. The pound of steamed shrimp with two ears of corn for $18 is a good deal still. June 2019 Very meaty crabs at decent prices of $47, $55, and $73 per dozen. Excellent shrimp, too, where you get 1 lb and corn for $17 with the purchase of a dozen crabs. Good fish basket, too. We've been there twice now and both times the food and service was outstanding. Wonderful find!

Food is great from burgers are delicious. Can’t beat the good deals they have. Crabs are reasonably priced. Even the pizza they serve after 10pm when the kitchen closes is good. Fair price for drinks.
