Great vibes, hard-working staff, but could use more support. We arrived early to meet friends and grab a good spot for the live band—unfortunately, the rooftop was closed due to wind, so the band was squeezed into a small space on the main level. Total bummer, especially since the rooftop was a big part of the appeal. Service: Our server, Jennifer, greeted us quickly and was clearly doing her best all night. She, her husband, and one other waitress were running nonstop trying to cover the floor. We waited quite a while between check-ins, but considering how packed the place was (Indiana Fever game, graduation parties, and live music), I can’t fault the effort—just the staffing levels. Same story at the bar: only one bartender for a crowd that size is just not enough. Message to management: your staff worked hard, but they needed more help. Food: The kitchen crushed it. Our Brussels sprouts appetizer came out fast and was flavorful and perfectly cooked. My jalapeño burger (the one with the long name!) was excellent, and the $4 onion rings—though a bit overpriced as a side—were seriously the crispiest I’ve ever had. Kim’s wrap, unfortunately, was a letdown—mostly lettuce, not much flavor, and not worth the $14 price tag. Our friends enjoyed their meals, and we all shared a bread pudding dessert. It was decent, but could’ve used a sauce or topping to take it to the next level. Value: Our total for 1 app, 2 meals, and 4 drinks was just over $100 plus tip. That’s becoming the norm in Des Moines lately, but still felt a little high for what we got. Final Thought: Would I go back? Yes—but probably for happy hour to get a little more value. The staff worked hard, the food was mostly great, but the experience would benefit from better staffing during busy nights.
Decided to try Who’s on 1st so we could also watch a football game. The restaurant has a lot of seating & TVs!! We really enjoyed our time. They had a deal for 99¢/wing, so we got 10 mango habanero ones and they were tasty. :D definitely bigger than I expected them to be. For our entrees, we got the Cajun chicken sandwich as well as the chicken bacon ranch sandwich. I liked them both. Their fries are very thin but super crispy. I would come back again. (PS: I forgot to take a picture of my sandwich before I ate). I would come back again.
Came by on a Sunday evening to watch the games & get some food. Pretty empty at 7:30. Sat on the patio. Benches are not the most comfortable. Server was great and friendly. There is no beer list to read or scan so you have to use her ordering system. The burgers were underwhelming. Comes with huge Texas toast and the patty might be half. The one pictured below was a $15 double. The $9.99 loaded baked potato was not worth $2. On the colder side, dry and old. Expected a good meal size for a $10 potato not something I wouldn’t have even been happy with as a side item. Was worth a try but not impressive at this visit.
Never have been here, always drive by, and decided why not go for Valentine's Day. Food was good. Only a few minor issues. The wait staff messed up my husband's order. He wanted the fries but no ranch, got no fries, and wanted jalapenos on his Grinder and no banana peppers, didn't get jalapenos even though the ticket said no banana. Fries were good but cold by the time our food. Other than that I would suggest this place. Ranch was good also with the flat fries, just maybe a little too much dill. The dill was over powering just a little bit.
Continued improvement on menu options keep this place as a go to for my lunches. Cooper Philly released yesterday is so so good. Excited for the evening baked potato’s soon as well. As always, served with a smile by Hannah! Come get a cold one and a good meal; you deserve it.
This is a good place to get an beer and apps. The chips and dip are good. The beer is cheaper than many other places, especially during happy hour. Seating by the windows can be cold if the weather is poor, they should work on that. We will go here again. I don't like the pretzels here, dont come here for a real pretzel.
Ordered the pub pretzels and whiskey bacon smash burger with fries which were all amazing! Their fries are thin and seasoned very well! 10/10 recommend as this was a first for us and we will be back!
This was my second visit to this restaurant with my friend. I wanted to go back for the salad I enjoyed on my first visit. We have enjoyed lunch here. They weren't over busy. Plus, I appreciated that the music was turned on loud or TVs blasting. Hannah was our waitress. She was very nice and had a great smile. The restaurant was clean, and our food came out fast and was delicious. I enjoyed the TY Cobb Salad and was able to switch the cheese out. My friend had the bacon bar b que hamburger. He did put in a request for the whiskey burger to come back. I look forward to going here again.
