Man that was some BBQ! This place is a must try when you are in the area. The ribs were cooked perfectly. The coleslaw was delicious. The okra was spot on. The amount of food you get is epic. I tried the large rib plate and never looked back. Don't forget to get a nice big glass of sweet tea. The staff was super friendly. I will definitely return for another round.
We got lucky that our trip to Florida took us through Troy. I have been craving bbq for days. Fast and friendly service with a smile; simple menu (love minimizing my options so I can make a decision fast). We got pork and chicken. The togo containers packed perfectly with side of rice, two sides (cole slaw was yummy), white bread and slice of poundcake. Meat was tender and flavorful. Cannot beat price for the platter. Thanks for awesome experience!
When you think of Alabama BBQ, Hooks is one of the best. The people who owned and ran Hooks were awesome to work with and our baseball team at Spanish Fort just loved the food. I had the ribs and they were so good that they did not need any sauce. I will come back with our team any time we are in Troy.
We walked to Hook’s BBQ from the Hampton Inn. It is about a mile walk, but it is worth it. The city of Troy needs sidewalks along the highway badly. The effort was worth it. I had the small pork plate with coleslaw and potato salad. It also comes with rice and a slice of pound cake. Everything was excellent and we are so glad we made the effort. The barbecue sauce is unique and quite tasty. I wish I knew their secret.
If you want some good BBQ then go no further. The loaded baked potato is a must, or maybe the pork sandwich. There is also something not on the menu that is amazing, it's called a fat pack (pictured) which is fries, cheese, pork, or chicken. Everything is so good it's hard to choose. The pound cake or the new selection of shakes definitely completes your meal. Everyone is friendly and makes you feel welcome.
Best RIBS in the state HANDS DOWN!! We can’t leave the pulled pork, chicken or sides out! If you are ever in TROY… you best stop for the best BBQ meal you will ever eat!! Super nice and attentive staff. Awesome atmosphere as well!! GO GET YA SOME…. YOU WONT BE SORRY!
On long drive North to South after several stressful days and we decided we wanted BBQ. Looked on line from several sources and Hook's BBQ looked like a try. Not knowing the area it was a bit difficult to locate and missed the left hand turn by a block and ended in a Walmart parking lot. With the windows down we could smell a delicious BBQ aroma and soon located an unmistakable BBQ smoke stack! We weaved our was back North a block and their it was. A BBQ place with a very full parking lot and a very long line of cars in the Food Pickup line. With a "OK we can wait in line for this" attitude, we walked in to a moderate line which rapidly evaporated as most were simply picking up orders inside rather than wait in line at the Pickup window. We quickly placed our order and I was looking forward to a Regular Rib plate with Fryed Okra and coleslaw with cornbread and drink. My very SO ordered the Pork Plate with potatoes salad and chips. They were delivered to our table quickly still hot and mouth watering! We LOVED EVERYTHING. We actually order a separate side of Baked Beans after watching others eating them and commenting on how great they were. What a Huge surprise and really made our trip far more enjoyable. I've marked this place for a revisit when in the area. You should do the same.
The coziest little pit stop for some delicious bbq. We stopped by on the way home from the beach, and we were very pleased with the food. The bbq pork, rice and pound cake were so yummy!
