Southern Appalachian Smokehouse

Although we have had takeout from here a few times , this was our first chance to dine in at this gem. From the start you receive a rousing welcome . Matt , the owner, is convivial host , and made us feel like family. We ordered what was probably way too food , and shortly the parade began. The servers work as a team , and keep the food coming out fresh and hot . For starters we had the fried green tomatoes served with ranch and the smoked pimento dip served with fried-in-house pita chips . My wife scarfed down the ‘maters before I could get a picture(almost) let alone get one . The pimento dip was absolutely amazing and had a complex medley of flavors that virtually danced upon the tongue. On to the main course , my wife ordered the wings , sweet potato fries and collard greens. It was a lot of food . My wife loves the wings and swears the collards are the best around. The sauces are all made in-house and delicious. I had the brisket sandwich and fries . The brisket is smoked to perfection , and piled on the bun . This is a FAT sandwich . It’s so flavorful that it’s almost a shame to add the sweet and tangy bbq sauce… almost . From the food to the people the occasion was seamless and we can’t wait for our next visit . If you haven’t been , or if you just haven’t been in a while you owe yourself the trip .

A fantastic hidden gem in Lavonia Ga off I85 that anyone who loves BBQ needs to try. The food was delicious and they gave complimentary fresh pork rinds that were to die for! I will be stopping here every chance I get the food and wait staff was that excellent!

This was our first time here and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The food portions were large and delicious, the restaurant was clean, and the employees were some of the nicest we’ve encountered. We were even given pork skins before our meals arrived! We will definitely return!

The food here is fantastic and very well priced! I had the pulled pork dinner plate, and my boyfriend had the brisket dinner plate. It was plenty of food! The staff here is so kind and helpful. The coleslaw and collards are very traditional and well-made.

We stopped at Southern Appalachian Smokehouse BBQ while traveling home from Greenville and are so glad we did! The pimento cheese dip with bacon jam was outstanding and comes with a choice of house-made chips, house-made pita chips, or both — we chose both, and they were absolutely delicious. We each ordered a BBQ sandwich, and they were huge and very satisfying. Mine even came with a surprise side of fried jalapeños, which was a fun bonus. I also had the sweet potato fries sprinkled with a cinnamon sugar topping — so yummy. My husband had his sandwich with homemade chips and a side of queso, which he loved. The service was excellent — very friendly, and our food came out fast, hot, and fresh. Definitely glad we stopped and would happily come back!

I had a fantastic experience at Southern Appalachian Smokehouse in Livonia, GA! The food was incredible. I tried the Hiker's salad, which had the best smoked chicken I've ever had—perfectly seasoned and tender. The Loaded Chips were a delightful surprise, with layers of flavor that were super awesome. The pulled pork taco was also very delicious, with juicy pork and a great blend of toppings.The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, making it a perfect place for friends to gather and enjoy a good meal. The rustic decor and warm lighting add to the charm of the place. The staff is phenomenal—welcoming, attentive, and genuinely caring about your dining experience.Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend stopping by Southern Appalachian Smokehouse. It's a gem in Livonia that you don't want to miss!

Cute restaurant with great food and service! I hate it that we live an hour from here! We walked in and were greeted warmly by the hostess. She offered us menus and told us we could choose where to sit and come back and order. We ordered, got our drinks and went back to our seats. The sweet tea was divine! Our food was brought out within 5-8 minutes and the server asked if we needed anything else. I got the chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato fries. My wife got the pulled pork dinner. We each thought the food was very good! As we ate, we had 2 different people come out to check on us, at least 5 minutes apart. We could get our own refills but they were very friendly in offering to help. They came and took away our plates when we were finished. This stop made a great day even better. We'll be back! And I want to buy a cool AT shirt from them!

Quick Google search along my route for bbq and landed here. Had 4.6 stars so I knew it had to be decent. But the service was fast, friendly, and as far as smokehouse prices affordable. These onion rings are some of the best I've had. Definitely a 5 star experience
