The curry goat and oxtail were excellent, exhibiting rich, deep flavors. The staff provided friendly and accommodating service. However, portion sizes were somewhat small relative to the price point. While the beef patties possessed exceptional flavor, their thinness and small size were notable. In summary, the meal was enjoyable, but portion sizes fell below average.
For the best and most tender Jamaican oxtails, rice, and peas around this is the place the place to get it! I've NEVER been disappointed with "lack of flavor" missing from any of the dishes I've had at Jamaican Island Kitchen. From Jerk Chicken to the bean pies and plantains! Everything is always good and full of flavor!! The wait may be a bit long, depending on the time of day. I ordered three oxtails to-go for myself and 2 coworkers and brought them back to work across town. The food was still piping hot and delicious when I got it back to the office.
The Jerk Chicken and Ox tails were flavor packed, melt in your mouth, and delicious! The oxtail dinner had more than enough oxtails, nestled with plantains, rice and peas, and cornbread. The jerk chicken was kicking with a side of scotch bonnet hot sauce! Oh my! You definitely get your money's worth!
Every time I come here the food is always hot and fresh to order, so full of flavor and very delicious.
If you haven't went here, you definitely need too. The absolute best Jamaican food. I either go for the oxtails or the brown Stew Chicken. They even have Jamaican sodas that you can purchase as well.
A lot of love in this food, and the passion for cooking is undeniable. I had the Curry Goat with a side of Oxtail, accompanied with their Yellow Rice, Fried Plantains, and of course a Beef Patti. It was all amazing, well executed, perfect temperature, and not spicy as one might expect from a kitchen as true to Caribbean fare, as the Island Kitchen is. Clean restaurant, beautiful owners, happy kitchen, no-nonsense dining room. Highly Recommended to all foodies, and I WILL be back!
First, I’d like to say how I like the cleanliness of this establishment. I ordered a small brown stew chicken with the peas rice with plantains. OMG… I LOVE how they put the sauce over the rice…mm mm good! They put it in a to go container…they must know that you’ll be taking some home. The serving size is PLENTIFUL I will be back and thank you for the experience!
Order goat, escovitch fish and beef patties. Goat was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. Fish was good too. Good amount of food.
