Surfs Up

Surf’s Up is a true beach-town staple. Bright walls, goofy art, old-school vibes. Nothing polished or pretentious, just a place that knows exactly what it is. You walk in and instantly feel like you’re in the right spot for a hot sandwich and a break from the sun. I ordered the large Italian sub. It was loaded with meat, cheese, shredded lettuce, and just the right hit of oil and vinegar. The roll was soft and fresh, holding everything together without falling apart. It hit all the right notes. One of my friends had the small turkey, and even that came out with serious weight to it. They don’t skimp. Prices are on the higher side, but it makes sense. You’re at the beach, the food is fresh, and the portions are solid. Staff was friendly and fast. Everyone working there looked like they’d been doing this forever and still enjoyed it. If you’re in Bethany and want a sub that delivers on flavor without any nonsense, this place is worth the stop. It’s the kind of local joint you remember when the trip is over.

I always get take out here but the food is always good. There is some variation due to the huge number of seasonal workers but never had a problem. My favorite is the cold cut.

I moved to the area a few months ago and I've been hunting for the best pizza shop. The crust was just right for me. Cheese almost to the edge, crust thin, but not too thin and still foldable. The toppings were fresh and the staff was great. If I think I found my pizza shop.

One Star reviews do not mean anything other than customers who were miserable before arriving. Great food. Awesome Service. Hasn’t changed since I was a kid. Haven’t missed a summer not going into this place and being stuffed with food to take home. Best bang for your buck in Bethany. Would give 10 stars if I could.

**Date of Visit:** July 4th, 2024 I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the manager at Surf's Up for his outstanding assistance during our visit on July 4th. My nieces, aged 8 and 13, and I were enjoying our day when a group of boys, around 17-20 years old, began throwing trash and French fries at my nieces as they waited near the bathroom. I was downstairs getting drinks as this occurred. I went back downstairs and met the Manager Mark who seen my youngest niece crying about what had happened. Mark confronted the boys, they denied their actions and became extremely disrespectful, using foul language towards him. He promptly reviewed the video footage, which clearly showed a cup hit the 8yr old. French fries and what looked to be crumbled up napkins were also thrown at them asthe boys laughed.Despite the evidence, the boys continued to deny their behavior and directed their disrespectful language towards him as well. Throughout this ordeal, after being cursed at and lied to repeatedly he shouted at them to leave or the police would be contacted. Thanks to his prompt actions and unwavering support, we felt much safer and assured that our concerns were taken seriously. The boys were fortunate that only foul language was used and that the police were not called, but the manager's firm handling of the situation ensured that it did not escalate further. I cannot thank Mark enough for his quick response and for creating a safe environment for us. Surf's Up is lucky to have such a dedicated and competent individual on their team. This experience, although initially distressing, was greatly improved by the manager's intervention. Families can feel confident visiting Surf's Up knowing that their safety and well-being are a top priority. If only the individual would claims their experience was soured do to this asked more about the situation maybe they would’ve understood what happened.

Best subs at the shore. Cheesesteak is fantastic (done in the style of Jim's in Philly), other standouts are the italian, and the turkey. Prices might seem high, but the quality is excellent and the size (especially the large) is great. Been going here since I was a kid and it really hasn't changed much - and that is a very good thing. GO!

Absolutely the best! The steak and cheese is the best we have ever had and the turkey sub is equally as delicious. Plus you will never meet nicer staff.
