My husband and I visited this restaurant after being tired of the surf and turf we've had around the beach areas on our road trip. We were visiting from Houston, TX where there is a very densely populated Asian community and one of the biggest chinatowns in the state of Texas. So after seeing the other reviews before visiting, I felt the need to give my own rating for this restaurant after viewing some of the negative reviews. The main negative reviews I saw were: Mongolian Beef and broccoli had a bad texture, food came out cold, and service was poor. My intention with giving our honest review is to help others get a more thorough idea of what to expect versus seeing a negative nancy try to rip an Asian family owned restaurant a new one. We ordered the General Tso's, Kung Pao Chicken, egg rolls, Mongolian Beef and Broccoli. As most Chinese family owned restaurants -- yes, it's not American customer service, but they're giving the expected service you'd get from a Chinese own restaurant -- Mild service where they want you in and out so you're not waiting and good food so they can efficiently move on to the next considering English isn't their first language. I've included photos and given the following ratings with my explanations below. I do want to advise our food came out very hot and the wait was less than 15 minutes. General Tso's solid 10/10 -- sauce was perfect between sweet and spicy, chicken was fried and tossed in sauce perfectly, and meat was tenderized correctly. Broccoli was a good crunch on the stem, but soft by the florets. Kung Pao Chicken is a solid 11/10 -- chicken was fried and tossed in the sauce perfectly, you can really taste the five spice and it's probably one of the best I've had. You can clearly taste the spices and it pairs perfectly well with the steamed rice. Meat was tender and the baby corn stalks were the perfect crunch. This was probably one of my favorites. Egg Rolls 6/10 -- this wasn't really filled properly and there was more egg roll wrapper than filling, but I give it a 6 for still tasting good and was fried to perfection. Mongolian Beef and Broccoli is a 7/10 -- the beef was overly velveted. It was far too tender to the point that you couldn't tell if it was beef in terms of texture. Veggies were perfectly tossed in the sauce and went great with rice.
First time at Dragon City. Extensive menu with lunch specials, prompt service, tasty, freshly cooked food. I had Kung Pao chicken and it had very good flavor with just right amount of spice for me. The inside of the restaurant is not the best. Food is good, that the most important thing.
The food has been consistently hot, fresh, and delicious, which I really appreciate. I also want to commend the young man at the front counter for being professional, efficient, and handling busy times so well.
Best general's chicken around and the crab Rangoon was amazing
The food is good! Once in a while the beef is tough!
Me and my daughter were on our beach trip to Gulf Shores and wanting Chinese . Absolutely the best General Tsaos Chicken and Sesame Chicken ever. And the portions were great !
Best Chinese food in foley hands down! Great price, fast service, and it’s always the same quality.
A small gem found in the newly renovated Piggly Wiggly mall. Don't let the faded menu board turn you away. The Honey Chicken is to die for. Although their recipes are different from our restaurants back in New York, a variety of flavors can still be had. Fried dumplings offered a rich trying sausage filled dumplings with a salty, but delicious dipping sauce to tickle your taste buds. Many meals offered white rice, but fried rice is available upon request. Lo Mein is a little plain in terms of vegetables, but has a great taste. The number of snowbirds that came into the restaurant while we waited for our food was impressive. We counted for separate couples from the mid-West stopped in.
