Someone recommend me this restaurant and today I decided to come and try their foods. And I love it. I used to hate to eat eel rice casserole but this restaurant make good Eel rice casserole and I love it. First time I ate a delicious Eel rice casserole. I will come back soon to try other foods on the menu. I am going to say Very high recommended !
This place is a hidden gem!! The traditional Cantonese food is delicious! Taste wonderful and you can really taste the work into cresting such beautiful aroma and flavors. This place gets incredibly busy so definitely recommend reserving ahead a time with a big group. The best dish is the Eel Rice a must try but you need to call ahead if time for them to start cooking as it takes a while to make. Definitely coming here again!!
Amazing food. Most authentic Cantonese cuisine. Ask for their free soup (lay tong) even if you already ordered soup. They (lay tong) is very tasty comparing to other restaurants. Very mediocre service. Make sure to bring a big group since all dishes are for family style. Just one of my favorite items to order here, 一鱼三吃 (one fish eat in three ways). Make sure to bring a Cantonese speaking friend who knows what/ how to order.
Honestly such a delightful meal! We stumbled upon the restaurant while driving by. Reviews said the service wasn’t good but the waiters and staff were pretty quick and attentive. Even with the language barrier we had no issues at all! We ordered the lobster in ginger garlic sauce, fried rice, Peking style pork chops, clams in black bean sauce, and stir fried string beans. The price was so reasonable even with tip! Plenty of leftovers as well! Every single dish was delicious and we will definitely be back again. Thank you!
No frills Toishanese fare. Toishan is a region in Guangzhou China. Their specialty is clay pot eel rice. Rice comes out nicely seasoned and kept hot in a clay pot. Each bute will have nice slightly chewy pieces of eel along with some fresh herbs such as cilantro. Their other dishes all came out nicely stirred fried or broiled. You can taste the wok hay in each dish. The portions are big and the prices are quite cheap relative to their portions. Food I'd say 4.5 stars. However the decor is somewhat Spartan and the service limited. The restaurant clearly does not have enough wait staff but the ones there try their best to help and serve the customers.
Decent Cantonese food. Eel rice was good. Price is fair. Service lacking. Wait time is a bit long. Don’t think they deserve a 1-star for long wait time so I’m up’ing this to from 3 star to 4.
Great Chinese restaurant serving Cantonese and Taishanese dishes. Their yellow eel clay pot rice is a must when ordering here. The calamari is also very good. Peanuts are offered on the table when you first get seated. I see that the rating on Google is around 3 stars. That's how you know it's legit. I wouldn't expect the non regulars to understand an authentic Chinese restaurant experience. I come here all the time so the waiters and staff practically consider my family as their own. The scallion lamb is another classic. The sweet sour pork is also excellent. When done right, their string beans are nice, crispy, and garlicky. It's also BYOB. People bring wines and alcohol for their special gatherings. I usually bring soda. Great service. I ask for cups and ice for my drinks. They bring it over. Dishes are great to share. Make sure to place a reservation because they are typically fully booked. They're actually so successful that they turn people away at the door. Super rice is indeed very super. Thanks.
Yes the service is kinda non existent but it's par for the course for your standard busy popular Chinese restaurant. If you go when it's less busy then service is actually not bad. The food here though is amazing and the portion size to boot. The eel rice, the ging do gwut, the fish filet eggplant tofu pot were among my favorites but you can't go wrong with anything. The duck was my least favorite though. Probably my go to spot for Chinese food in this area now.
