I went to El Peñol 2 located on 570A Broadway in Revere, MA. We had a true Columbian food feast here! For drinks I tried their jugos naturales en augua (nature flavored water). They have so many flavors to try (mango, papaya, guava etc.) and you can get milk versions of them too. I tried their blackberry water and it was super delicious 9/10. For appetizers we had fried plantains 7/10, yucca frita (yucca fries) 7/10 and mixed ceviche platter 7/10. The mixed ceviche platter was quite the sight! It had shrimp, scallops, octopus and avocado. If you are in the mood for some seafood I recommend trying this dish. For main dishes we had the carne en crema de champinoñes (beef in mushroom sauce) 8/10, the picadillo de pollo (marinated chicken) 7/10 and pescado frito (whole fried fish) 7/10. For any of the dishes you can also get a side of rice and beans, fries, salad, or fried plantains. For dessert we got flan 7/10 and churros with ice cream 7/10. This place is very affordable and provides great portion sizes. I can see why they have two other locations (Boston and Brookline!). Next time I come back (or perhaps do delivery!) I want to explore more of their drinks and of course get plantains/yucca fries. Food: 7/10 Affordability: 8/10 Ambiance: 5/10
Always been happy with the food and service every time I've been here!
Highly recommend- Good/large food portions for amazing prices. I usually order "la bandeja paisa" and I tend to have enough left over for later in the day. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They restaurant is on the smaller side (no more than 30 people). I recommend calling ahead of time in case you would like to know if a reservation is needed (mainly during the holidays).
The food is delicious, and the staff has always been friendly to us. The place is small and gets pretty busy on Saturdays. This is my favorite restaurant in the area.
Food slaps made 3 meals with 1. Real food, good portions, and great tasting!
I’ve been coming here for almost 5 years! ALWAYS consistent. ALWAYS good!
The food is so good, the services good you no need to wait so long for they bring the food to you table, but this time I was buy fried plantain with hogao, the cost was so high for the appetizer because that was probably less the 1 plantain and a little portion of sauce. For 9$ I was tried it before but inside the restaurant and the portion of the hogao was normal, but it is unbelievable, I really fell that they stole my money.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
