Our server was amazing and our food was delicious. We truly enjoyed our time sitting on the patio for dinner. At the back of the restaurant there is this gorgeous stone spiral staircase you take to get up to the WC…a treasured beauty I quite admired!
Had very delicious food there. Not over salted or oily like it can happen in restaurants..Service also very friendly. Outdoor seating nice.
Very local, I went even twice while on my trip. The price to portion ratio is great. The food is nice it has a homemade feeling, made by grannies which is nice :) No one speaks English but they are still nice and try to make the best
Absolute gem of a restaurant. Changed owner two years ago so don’t pay attention to older comments. The food is good and honest. The presentation is distinctly ”home cooked ” so don’t expect TV chef artistry. The home made wine will probably not please a wine snob but is perfect with the food. All in all a good place for lunch, feels like eating at home.
We stumbled on this restaurant as a large group that wanted to sit inside. The servers were incredibly kind and welcoming and we had the best time. The food was authentic, delicious and well priced. We have recommended to out guide for his future groups to try. We ate, drank and laughed and loved our evening at A Taberninha. Thanks Judit, you are a gem
The Restaurante a Taberninha, the staff is super friendly, they have the menu on four languages! Super helpful to advice me on what to try on their menu, it was amazing experience and super tasteful. The size of their meals is just perfect!
This is a gem for great Portuguese food at a fair price. Had the chafana, which is a traditional Portuguese dish. It was excellent. The goat meat was so tender and not fatty. It comes with a salad, and I substituted the potatoes for rice. The restaurant location is great, away from the main street crowds, and has a view of the church and old buildings. The ladies that wait the tables don't speak much English, but they're are very nice and have the menu in English. If you're looking for a place to eat local tasty food, I'd recommend this place.
I was in a hurry to catch a train but still wanted to try the local dish, Chanfana, which is stewed goat in wine sauce, so I chose the first place I passed that had it on the menu. It was absolutely delicious and tasted exactly like some of the best fall off the bone, braised beef short ribs. The server was lovely and suggested a homemade pudim for dessert, which was also top notch.
