Fantastic local café. Stopped here while exploring the region and we didn't regret it. The wait staff were sweet. The food was excellent. The breaded chicken was homemade and my kids ate it! I greatly enjoyed the fresh, made from scratch chicken fried steak at the waitress' recommendation. They even changed one of the tvs to the husker game for us. Hope our adventures take us nearby again, we'd definitely return.
Honestly living in Westmoreland would be like 30% less enjoyable if the south 40 wasn't here. The food is delicious and everyone there is so nice. It's great to have an option to pick something up for lunch/dinner and it not be fast food.
My daughter and I ate at the South Forty Cafe for the first time yesterday afternoon. It was a pleasant little small-town cafe, and the food was great. I had a burger with onion rings. The onion rings were homemade and were fantastic. I'm glad I ordered a small - it was more than plenty! It is about 15 minutes north of Wamego and worth the drive.
You must try the home French fries. Mushrooms and onion rings for true appreciation of homemade cooking .. Chicken strips are flavorful and juicy. DONT MISS out on there amazing hamburgers and sandwiches.. The roast beef and mashpotatoes always take you back and considered a comfort food .. Fresh pies, desserts and so much more. Guarantee it'll be one of the best meals you've had in a small lovely town of kansas. Hours are limited and sometimes it's a bit of a wait but that's when you enjoy the atmosphere and conversation in a small town .. u back.
The chicken fried steak what is excellent. They actually peeled the potatoes. I truly recommend it.
Food is always great here. The waitress Sarah is always attentive and sweet.
Just like grandmas cooking !! Actual real homemade fries, onion rings and much more.. Give it a try you wont be disappointed. Does get super busy and hrs are limited..
The young lad and gal working were very friendly and consistent. It took awhile to get our food but it was HOT AND FRESH, although the French dip could of used some cheese!! It was good quality and prices were VERY fair!! Very pleased with the cafe and would go back again if the opportunity arose!
