It’s been good 6-7 year since the last time we dine-in at Goldilocks. We decided to have our brunch after in laws morning appointment. Got lucky for a parking knowing it’s hard to get one on a weekend close to the restaurant. Attentive staff from start to finish. It was 930AM but decided not to order breakfast items instead ordered our regular UBER orders. Ordered the following: Crispy Pata - it’s a must for us! Crispy skin and juicy pata meat. Ordered Crispy Pata here five times last year through UBER since we just love how juicy and crispy it is. Pansit Canton - well seasoned and great amount of toppings i.e veggies and meat. Noodles not overcooked. Fresh Lumpia - not pictured. Fresh veggies wrapped in crepe with sweet savory peanut sauce completes the dish. Highly recommend if you’re craving for some Filipino dishes.
Beef caldereta is cooked good. The lumpiang shanghai set was also cooked well. The chicken asado siopao is good as well. From their grocery, I got buko pie, piñacolada polvoron, black bean hopia, yellow bean hopia, & the cheese bread sticks -- all oh-so-delicious. Friendly servers have been happily working there for more than 10-20 years.
First time to eat at this location and I can understand where the others could criticize the customer service. After all, it's a restaurant and a bakery. This is not Denny's or Olives Garden, you may or may not find a person welcoming you here as soon as you c come in. The eatery is Filipino. Coming to Goldilocks gives you already a wonderful notion whether you'll buy some baked goods or dine here. Certainly, the customer service might need to improve, but the little issues with customer service are compensated for by their offerings. We really dined here and enjoyed singing, bangus, and pancit bihon. Few days later ordered arrozcaldo and halo halo through Door Dash and I can't complain. The food is excellent. Will surely return! Thanks!
We had our breakfast the first time we came to eat at this restaurant and everything that we ordered was delicious! We came back 2 days after to have our lunch and we ordered pancit and pork belly sisig and it was delicious as well, but the appetizer platter and dinuguan seemed to be pre-frozen and just was heated up in the oven, I can tell the Kare-kare was not cooked from scratch, the service is good overall.
4.6 This is the place to go if you’re looking for authentic, traditional Filipino food. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. The variety of food available including desserts and pastries is unmatched. Portion size is generous and we ordered way too much! This place offered tastes of my childhood and I miss it already.
Great authentic Filipino food taste. The servings are family size and meant to be shared. There's a bakery on site that serves Filipino desserts. If you are looking for ube(purple yam) pastries, this is the place for you. It's a little pricier but you get what you pay for in quality and cleanliness.
Goldilocks was an option suggested for my dad's celebration of life gathering. I drove down to the restaurant from Carlsbad to talk with them directly about preparing food for 100+ guests for a Filipino house party (we're Filipino). It was my first time there, and the staff was friendly and helpful. They had me work with Mel, the manager there, and she went above and beyond to help me select the perfect combination of dishes for the party. Knowing we would have some vegetarian guests (like me), Mel helped me customize some of the dishes like the Pancit Bihon, Pinakbet and even the Bagoong Alamang to exclude meat, and suggested a few orders of the vegetarian egg rolls so the veggie guests weren't depressed that they couldn't eat the Shanghai Lumpia. She helped me figure out portions, and also helped with dessert suggestions. Come the day of the celebration of life, Mel helped our food delivery people be sure they had everything in the order. The food was still hot when it arrived, and many guests remarked how delicious all the food and selections were; Great feedback from a primarily Filipino crowd! I am 1000% happy with the food, the help, the services and the care that Mel and her team put into our house catering for my dad's celebration of life and highly recommend Goldilock's National City for any home parties you might have. Work with Mel, she's the best!!! Thank you Mel and your team for helping to make this event even more special by providing delicious authentic Filipino dishes and desserts to help us to celebrate my Tatay's beautiful and blessed life.
We always visit this place when in SD because the food here doesn’t upsets our stomachs, the food is good and you can shop after you ate, all in one place. Garlic fried rice is always good. Lechon kawali (deep fried pork belly) is crispy, lumpiang Shanghai is ok; it’s crispy, needs more flavor. Tosilog: To is for Tocino (cured pork-a little sweet), Si is for sinangag (fried rice), Log is for itlog (eggs). Food items we tried before; Pinakbet; sautéed mixed vegetables with shrimp paste & pork, Bihon guisado (stir fried glass noodles), inihaw na pampano (grilled fish), beef Kaldereta; they were all good. For snacks we got, cassava cake-always good not too sweet, Biko (sweetened sticky rice) is good. Hopias taste ok, needs more flavor to the filling. Pandesal is ok. Had better pandesal back home but I will settle to their pandesal since home is toooooo far. We also got peanuts with garlic and pan de leche (Sweet bread rolls)-will update this review once I tried them. Good service and will come back again if we’re in SD.
