I felt happy to return to Kanin Club after many years. The last visit happened during my elementary days at their Paseo de Sta. Rosa branch. Enjoyed seeing how their take on the dishes matched my grown palate. Standouts: 1. Crispy pork binagoongan tasted great. The pork stayed tender and the umami came out strong. 2. Bagoong fried rice worked for all meals. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner could fit this rice. Pork sisig rated low. The mayo flavor felt off, and the reason stayed unclear to me. Seafood salpicao rated average. I ordered this out of curiosity but the taste did not match my preference. Staff were accommodating. Service stayed smooth and friendly.
Sure! Here’s a more amateur, casual food review vibe—less formal, more “just sharing my thoughts”: ⸻ Here’s my honest take. The place is nice mainly because it’s in West Gate Alabang, which is pretty convenient for us southies. Easy to go to and chill spot overall. We ordered the Crispy Dinuguan, Sinigang na Liempo, Stuffed Squid, Crispy Binagoongan, and Pancit Bihon. The Crispy Dinuguan was good but for me, a bit overhyped. I liked how the sourness mixed well with the blood, but the meat was kinda chewy. Maybe because it was deep-fried and cut into pieces already, but I was expecting it to be more tender inside. The Sinigang na Liempo was the best dish for me. The tamarind sourness was sakto, very comforting and felt like something you’d eat at home. Super Pinoy-style and really hit the spot. The Stuffed Squid was okay. The stuffing was something I haven’t really tried before, which made it interesting. Not my favorite, but still good and worth trying. The Pancit Bihon was on the drier side, which I actually prefer. It had a lot of veggies and meat too, so I liked it overall. Last was the Crispy Binagoongan. This one didn’t really stand out for me. I was expecting a stronger bagoong flavor, but it wasn’t emphasized that much. Still okay, just not memorable. Portion sizes are decent and fair for the price. The staff were nice and accommodating, though the place itself could use a bit of improvement. Overall, not bad and still a good food spot to try.
We’ve always liked eating at Kanin Club, but our recent visit was a bit of a test of patience. It took 1 hour just to get a table, and by then we were already starving — so much so that I couldn’t even take pictures of the food. The good thing was we placed our orders before being seated, so the food arrived quickly once we had a table. As always, the dishes were satisfying and consistent with what we’ve come to expect from Kanin Club. The ambiance and service were just average — nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. Overall, still a good spot for Filipino comfort food, but be prepared to wait if you’re coming during peak hours.
We were craving for authentic Filipino cuisine at an affordable price, and one of the best places to have Pinoy food is in Kanin Club. It has been awhile since our last visit, and we were happy to see that the quality of food remains the same. For this trip we had their Ampalaya Salad, Crispy Pata and Sizzling Sisig. We were later joined by a couple of friends and added on Salpicao and Roasted Peanuts. All these washed down by a few bottles of San Miguel beer. We had 2 servers during our visit. One the opposite of the other. One serves with much enthusiasm and a smile, and one seeming to just get the night done. One other thing, hopefully they can improve on the cleanliness of their washroom. Just the same, it was a delightful experience for (ex) OFWs like us. #PinoyFoodTrip #PhilippineChronicles
The food here was all good. The bistek and sinigang stood out for me. The crispy liempo was like fried bacon, while the tinapa rice was decent. The lumpia wrapper was a bit too thick, and the ube sago shake was bland. On their own, the dishes may not be exceptional, but when eaten together, they offer a pleasantly diverse Filipino dining experience. Service was good, and the staff were attentive. The place also has a homey vibe.
The good: - Food is delicious - Pretty big serving size The bad: - Serving time was a bit long Good to know: - Queue time gets quite long during peak hours (lunch, dinner) - They didn't accept credit/debit card payment when we went there (they had POS issues)
Craved for the Crispy Kangkong and Sinigang from Kanin Club. It's still as good as before. I'd also recommend their Tinapa Rice and Aligue Rice. Wish the branch in Ayala Triangle or MOA would re-open again.
All food items that we ordered were both tasty and filling. Now that has been established, we waited for quite a long time outside since there was an event on the 2nd floor. It would have been nice if there were fans at the outdoor area to help with the scorching heat. Just a suggestion, if the place will be rented for an event, kindly post on your website or on facebook that you will be booked to inform other customers beforehand and avoid cramming them inside the ground floor. Best visit during weekdays to avoid the weekend lunch rush. Still, this place is a hallmark of how Filipino dishes should taste like so it no wonder that a lot of locals bring their friends from abroad here so that they can sample Filipino cuisine.
