Today, I went out for dinner with a group of friends. We know this place used to be a Japanese supermarket, and now is a Taiwanese cuisine restaurant. As soon as we walked in, we noticed the wallpaper of Ximending (西門町)on the wall, indicating it’s a Taiwanese I’m restaurant. We were immensely impressed with the food during our first visit. All of us, being Taiwanese, absolutely loved it. The stinky tofu (臭豆腐)had a strong fermented flavor and tasted delightful, especially when paired with the house-made pickled vegetables. The popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞)was tender, quite large, and paired with basil, making it a Taiwanese classic dish. Additionally, we ordered Taiwanese stir-fried noodles (台式炒麵)and pork intestine and pig blood stew(五更腸旺). These are dishes we often eat back in Taiwan. The stir-fried noodles tasted just right, with the perfect noodle texture, accompanied by strips of meat and cabbage which added to a great flavor. The stew with pork intestines and pig’s blood paired with pickled cabbage reminded me of the taste I had experienced back in Taipei. We also ordered cabbage with bacon (高麗菜炒培根)where is a great combination of this two dishes, as well as veggie eggs (菜脯蛋) which gave us a great taste and last order was Hakka stir-fry (客家小炒)where the pairing of dried tofu, celery, pork strips, and squid was spot-on and felt light and refreshing to the palate. We highly recommend everyone to come and give it a try.
They have opened for a month and is already one of the best rated restaurant in Fremont. Service is wonderful and the food tasty. They keep and change up menu depending on availability so I think lunch will be your best bet to enjoy all their courses as they could run out at dinner! Wonderful and relaxing outdoor seating. Highly recommend - and please try the peanut tofu - peanut is nicely blended into the tofu to make it extra creamy and thick!!
This is now a Taiwanese / Chinese restaurant that serves both snacks and entrees. Their food is really good and portions are generous. I highly recommend the salt and pepper chicken (did not take a picture). Their bento box are priced between $14 - $16 and comes with 1 braised egg, braised pork over rice, vegetables and 1 stinky tofu(not that stinky), in addition to your choice of meat. The service is very good too, the servers are attentive and polite.
A great place for Japanese food and snacks Love their rolls and sashimi! They are fresh! And they are on sale every day at / after 6:30pm before they close at 7pm! They serve hot food like chicken teriyaki, curry rice, etc. I also like to do a quick shopping here for some Japanese snacks and cup noodles! Recommend checking it out!
Delicious food, freshly prepared. I loved the Ramen! Cute Store also for take home items. Fun Outdoor BBQ options available too! Cool hole in the wall total Surprise find while visiting the area. 5
This place is renewed recently, they have authentic Okinawa (Southern Japan) food. I love the sea grapes salad and pnanuts tohu here It's so special. Also their Tsuke men noodle is really nice and good to eat on a hot day.
I've been going here off and on while staying in the area and the food is awesome, the staff are as friendly and welcoming as you can get, and I love the little Japanese deli and market that are connected. The chicken karaage, sashimi combo, chirashi, and tempura were all very, very good. The prices are probably the best we've seen for Japanese food of this quality in the Bay Area.
This place used to be a Japanese/sushi restaurant and then changed to a Taiwanese restaurant, and NOW it is a simple Japanese restaurant run by Japanese people (the chef is from Okinawa). They have a menu of authentic Japanese comfort food with daily specials. It’s a smaller establishment and everything is made fresh to order so things are brought out as they are made. Think of eating at an auntie’s house. I’ve only been here twice for lunch on a weekday with a friend so service is good but I can imagine service being considered average if there are larger parties or if they’re busy. Otherwise I’d still highly recommend coming to try their food because it’s delicious. I’m usually not big on Japanese curry but I am absolutely obsessed with their pork katsu curry. I’ve seen other dishes come out at other tables that look great too. Ramen, salads, chicken karaage. Just all so homey and the vibes make you feel like you’re dining in a little restaurant in Japan.
