Tokyo Restaurant Rice Lake

Shocked at the quality for such a nondescript little strip mall spot in Central Wisconsin. Sushi was excellent, fresh, and obviously hand rolled on site before serving. The fried rice was light and fluffy in all the best ways, and not greasy like so many "Asian" restaurants like this.

So glad we stopped in for lunch here! Our waiter was friendly and very helpful. The food was delicious. We will be back, that is for sure. The dynomite roll was amazing.

We had an excellent takeout experience from Tokyo Restaurant in Rice Lake! Even though we enjoyed the food at home instead of dining in, everything was packaged so carefully and thoughtfully. Nothing spilled, everything stayed fresh, and the presentation still looked great when we opened it. The flavors absolutely held up — you could tell everything was freshly made. The pork gyoza dumplings were delicious, perfectly cooked with great flavor. Our chicken dishes were tender and tasty, and the fried rice (we ordered it without vegetables) was exactly what we hoped for. The plain lo mein was simple and comforting, and the chicken katsu was a big hit with our kid — crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It’s not always easy for takeout to feel like a full restaurant-quality meal, but Tokyo Restaurant nailed it. We’ll definitely be back!

Everyone is super respectful; food is both healthy & satisfying; and their table/& chairs is a lot more clean than most places I've been to. The food are very lively and vibrant to the taste.

Our experiences here have ALWAYS been absolutely fantastic! Their food is consistently served timely and fresh, with presentation definitely in mind. If you like hot green tea—make sure you order it —it is my favorite. The service is also attentive and very friendly! Highest recommendation!

More than competent place for rolls. Prices are reasonable and freshness is evident, likely because of the proximity to the twin cities. Hot sake is on the small side but it's also only five bucks. Order a couple and enjoy both hot or get a large and maybe it cools off at the table. Rolls were typical. Full of lots of stuff and topped with lots of stuff so that nothing is really distinguishable. I knew it when I ordered and they definitely exceeded my expectations. So much so that I decided to add a Salmon hand roll at the end. Fish was delicious and center-stage.

On my recent visit of 6/8/24, I've noticed some changes. First of all, the service is not the same. There was no warm welcome - just a question if I wanted a table or was there to pickup an order. It doesn't bother me if they don't speak a lot of English, it's just nice for people to say "hello" first! I haven't ordered from here for several months, so I wasn't surprised to see that the prices had increased...maybe about 10%. I was surprised to see that the quality and skill that goes into creating sushi pieces had declined. I ordered a tuna roll and it looked more like the pipes of a pipe organ since not one piece was the same size as another! The octopus was very tough and the seaweed salad had more lettuce underneath than in the past. I don't necessarily mind paying a little more for good quality food and service but I didn't get that this time. They struck out on all three!

Stopped in for lunch a few months ago, the place was pretty quiet. Service was quick and the food appeared to be freshly made up. Generous portions and fairly tasty. Definitely recommended if you want a quick meal at a fairly decent price.
