Awesome spot! Free parking lot and good food. Monkfish stew was especially good, Hirame sushi, deep fried fish, grilled fish, banchan were all good. The fish soup at the end was the perfect finishing touch but I just couldn't finish it because so much food and I was so full towards the end. We got combo c for group of 6 and that was perfect!
Recently,9/13/25. I’ve noticed that some restaurants in LA are actually more affordable than in Orange County, and the flavors are backed by long-standing tradition. You can tell the difference if you visit and compare for yourself — the ingredients taste fresh, and the dishes have their own unique character, so there isn’t much to compare with others. Specialty items like monkfish or pufferfish stew and braised dishes are quite common in Korea, but here in LA they are rare to find, which makes this place even more special. Visited again after several years. This place has always been one of the best restaurants for pufferfish and monkfish dishes, and it’s still serving generous portions at relatively reasonable prices. Everything was delicious, especially since pufferfish is such a rare delicacy these days. I would have preferred the braised pufferfish to be a bit spicier, but the pufferfish soup is absolutely perfect for curing a hangover. Highly recommend!
It is the one of the best Blowfish food restaurant in Los Angeles. Blow fish stew[bok jiri] and spicy steamed dish[bok jjim] are perfectly harmonized even expensive than other fishes. Monkfish stew and spicy steamed dish are good choices as well with smaller budget. Combo menu, especially lunch special is recommended. Located between downtown and korea town. Free parking.
If you have a sensitive stomach, it might not taste spicy but the quantity will get you hours later.
It's been a while since I've had lunch at Bungmun. The lunch menu was excellent and delicious. The servers were friendly. I've been here before and recommended it to everyone. I'll definitely be back.
The small halibut sashimi combo I got was delicious and had a great portion size for 3. I loved that for just an extra three bucks, I could add eel.
