Puffy tacos and arepas were amazing. Unfortunately, a bowl of chips cost $4. Which we've all been trained to think should be free. Children's menu leaves a bit to be desired. The kids cheese quesadilla was enormous but the bean and cheese soft taco was tiny. The taco was also black beans and served on a corn tortilla. Kids meal rice had whole corn in it which caused a major problem. Service was excellent and attentive. Overall a good value.
The food was overall okay, but nothing particularly memorable. The atmosphere was different than what I expected, which wasn’t necessarily bad, just not what I had in mind. Service was fine nothing outstanding, but no major issues either. The empanadas were definitely the highlight of the meal and stood out compared to the rest of the dishes. Unfortunately, the chips and guacamole were not very good, and the tortillas felt stale, which took away from the experience. Likely not coming back.
I was surprised to find this gem of Latin American cuisine in the Central Valley town of Manteca. It reminded me of the experiences I had on my trip to Colombia several years ago. There are good varieties of well prepared dishes. I will come back again and again on my trips to and from the Sierra.
We tried different Mexican, Central American and South American dishes including Tacos, Arepas and other veg dishes. Agua fresca was delicious. Service was great and we really liked the location and atmosphere at this place
My son and I had a lunch date here at MasaLatina. We enjoyed it a lot. The portions were really good. The salad was my favorite. I didn’t love the cheese used in the empanada. It was too liquid and too much of it. I would not order the cheese empanada, but would for sure go back for the delicious salad, fried plantains and my son loved the other dishes, even though he would not repeat the chicken wing fries.
Great customer service. Prompt and friendly. Beautiful inside and out. There aren’t very many options in this area but we were glad that this place didn’t disappoint. Although, the food tasted fresh, almost all of them including the tortilla were too salty. We still enjoyed them but just needed a little less salt. Hard to match the many delicious Mexican restaurants in the peninsula or San Jose area, but this place was solid.
Went here the other day with my sister. We’re Asian so we love trying new foods and the food here was amazing and the size of the portions were amazing!! It was busy so i understand the service can be a little slow but overall the food made up for it !
Some family members and I were looking for a place to eat and some family came from out of town and wanted some good Latin food and they found this place. It is located just off the road and is a small restaurant which usually is a good sign. We arrived at approximately 8pm and there were a couple of other diners so there was quite a bit of empty seats. They were able to accommodate 3 adults, 1 child and 2 toddlers no problem. Upon seating, my 1 year old son became fussy and I asked the waiter who mentioned he was new if I could just quickly order a bowl of beans because my son loves beans. He got that order in and while that was being handled, he brought us chips for the table. The chips and salsa were delicious. Shortly after that, the mashed black beans arrived sprinkled with cheese. My son crushed those. Then we all ordered our food to which the adults ordered the Masa Specialty mix and match of Sinaloan style puffy tacos. The child ordered the BBQ pork fries. The fries came out first and we all picked a little because she couldn’t finish all of it. They were smackin good! Super tasty with the bbq sauce and pork. The fries which were like waffle fries were cooked perfectly! I would order that the next time I go! The plates of tacos took rather long which is the only reason why I would give it 4 stars but, I have it 5 because of the kindness of the staff which I will speak about later. It was 3 plates of 2 tacos each which took over 30 minutes to arrive and we were pretty much the only people eating inside the restaurant. Nonetheless, the tacos were fantastic. Although the grilled fish I ordered was rather salty for my taste. The plates come with beans and rice which as well are good. The salsa provided for the tacos was also tasty and spicy. Just what I like. Now, prior to leaving, I asked if they had milk and also if they could warm it for me because I was staying at the Great Wolf Lodge down the road which did not have a microwave inside the room. Ridiculous, I know. The woman at the front said “let me check” and she came back a couple minutes later with a gallon and asked if it was for my 1 year old son I was holding. “Yes it is.” She asked how much I would like and I told her and then she heated it for me and put it in a styrofoam bowl to keep warm. Excellent staff and food and I truly appreciate that the woman went out of her way to provide my son and I with some warm milk so he can have a warm bottle of milk for bed. Thank you again.
Where has this place been hiding? My husband found this place on Yelp, so we decided to give it a try. Thank goodness we did! We sat at the bar and our bartender, Cynthia, was attentive and jovial. The patrons were welcoming and friendly even though this quaint place was a bit off the beaten path. The food was excellent! We ordered a bit of everything: salsa sampler, guacamole (has heat), a puffy taco, an arepa, three empenadas, a pupusa, and a street taco. Each was filled with a variety of choice meats: chicken, carnitas, carne asada, shredded beef, and (oddly my favorite) ground beef. Everything is homemade, even their most delicious, soft, made to order corn tortillas. I seriously just told my husband that I wanted to go back already, and we just ate their last night. The lady next to is got the shrimp ceviche. I almost did, and I'm glad I didn't because she told me that it carries a lot of heat. Go for it spice lovers. They have a full bar and carry 8 varieties of Berringer wine; everything from bubbles, Moscato, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cab. The place was clean, and the bathrooms were spotless. We will definitely be back again!!!
Went to this place on whim and oh my! We were so happy! I love black beans and not many places carry them. I have to find more south American/Carribean infused places like this one. The chicken was delicious, their Jamaica = on point. I don't know what they put in the rice but it was so good! Since our favorite south american/Carribean place closed some time ago in Manteca, we have not found another...until now! This is definitely going on the favorites list and whenever we are in Manteca and wanting something to eat, it will be the first place we look for. I had the braised beef empanada and the chicken arepa. I liked both but the empanada was not as moist as I was expecting but it was still good and flavorful.
They were understaffed, but everyone was very nice and our server (Alex was bumped up from bussing unexpectedly that night) were friendly and attentive. With a little patience and communication our experience went from concern that we should have gone somewhere else (slow seating and ordering) to wonderful. The food was amazing as usual. I really enjoy coming here. Photos: Carnitas Arepa and Carnitas Empanada, Capirotada (chocolate bread pudding), Flan, and buñuelos taco. Not pictured: my Classic Mule. They make a great cocktail here. Everything was absolutely delicious!
Food here is fresh and crazy delicious! Loved the pupusas and puffy tacos, and the table split some taco fries that disappeared in seconds The staff was very friendly and fast. No wonder the parking lot is always full!!
This place doesn't look like much from outside, but the interior decor is modern and cozy. I like the concept of this restaurant. Signature corn items (fluffy taco, papusa, arepa) with various topping/filling of meat (pork, steak, chicken, fish, etc.) My favorite was the pupusa with pork and bean on top, good texture and flavor. Fluffy taco (deep-fried shell) was good too. I'm not a big fan of arepa as it had too much of the bread part. We were here right before Mother's Day and saw a special Mother's Day Brunch menu. Service was good, the manager came to check on us a few times.
Great tasting food! The cocktails are fantastic as well. Why we haven’t heard of this place sooner? Idk. Really….come and check this place out.
The bierria puffy taco was out of this world! The drinks were amazing! The little sandwich looking dish was so good!
By far the best dining option in the area. Higher quality ingredients really come through. They did have dine in during covid, but I generally did takeaway, hence why the pics are with Togo containers. Seriously tasty, reasonable prices, felt authentic based on my visits to various Latin American countries, and overall very good portions per order.
