Sahara is a no-frills spot that serves up some absolutely delicious Mediterranean food at a reasonable price. The lunch special is a great deal and includes all of what you would want on a shawarma plate!

@Dec.2025 I went for a weekday lunch. There was a queue, looked like it’s popular place. I ordered lunch special kebab beef. I liked the beef it was tender and delicious. Price is reasonable and the portion is big and satisfying.

I read the reviews and they left me wondering who was right. The pictures looked good and from the look of the outside it was a middle eastern fast food place. Typically they are pretty good. Good food -fast at a reasonable price. Our two meals cost $43 with tip. We had one steak and lamb shawarma and one lamb kufta. The sides were lentil soup and babaganoush, side salads and humus. The pita bread was fresh but not hot when it came to the table. We thought wow $43 for lunch pretty pricy? The plates were huge the was a lot of meat on both plates and enough rice. The salads were typical peppers, cucumbers, olives, tomatoes. It was delicious. The place is way overcrowded with tables and almost everyone takes out. I have no idea why they wouldn’t remove some tables and make it more attractive as a place to eat. So I am not sure what the crazy reviews were about. This place has great fresh food and unfortunately as travelers we could not take the leftovers but there really was a lot of very tasty food. I hope my travels bring me this was again.

By far the best middle eastern food in Lexington. Their hummus is my favorite hummus period! It is out of this world good because it’s so creamy and delicious and worth driving across the city just for this. I ordered to go (I almost always get to go) and got the steak and chicken kebab with rice but usually I add the lamb kufta as well. The steak is filet mignon and great quality and their lamb kufta is full of flavor(if wanting alot of flavor the lamb kufta has the most). All of this is tied in very nicely with the garlic sauce (only use a small amount to not overpower the food). Also got their lentil soup while waiting for food to be cooked which was simple but tasted great. Highly highly recommend and prices are very reasonable and Everyone who works there is very kind also.

I have eaten here dozens of times over the years…cannot recommend this place enough!! Fabulous food. The beef kabobs are insanely delicious!!!!

Fantastic food, friendly and helpful service, overall great local restaurant. Paid $12ish/person at dinner
