We made sure to make La Olla in Oaxaca one of our dinner destinations. We looked forward to it and it did not disappoint. We had several different dishes amongst the 5 of us. The moles & sauces were delicious. We wanted to go back another night but we ran out of time. The staff sat us at a larger table, it was quaint & lovely. The food looks like artwork and is something you must have.
With delicate flavors, the dishes are delicious, especially the main dish Mole Amarillo Con Camarones. The shrimps are with the good smell of grills. Their spicy sauce is also hot enough!
Exemplary food and services! We had the taquitos, seasonal salad with grilled chicken, the sopa de guias and the mole amarillo con camerones. Incredible value as well.
The food is good, giving you a home cook feeling. The service was excellent. The place is quaint, slightly dark as it has small windows. The restaurant is small. Certainly worth a visit.
Not too many gluten free options, but the tlayuda we shared was very good. I wish there were more gluten free options on the menu. For the terraza bar itself, service wasn't great. There was one man working very hard to supply everyone drinks, but other waitstaff just appeared to be sitting there not helping? Getting our drinks and the bill took very long.
This was the best mole (by far) that I found in Oaxaca city. In my opinion the food and service was better than other Michelin restaurants I tried in the city. The space is quaint and comfortable. The waiter we had in the afternoon was knowledgeable and attentive making the experience even better. I ended up at La Olla twice on my trip because of how amazing the food and service was.
La Olla in Oaxaca Centro is a fantastic spot with delicious, well-balanced flavors that truly showcase Oaxacan cuisine. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service is attentive and welcoming, making for a memorable dining experience. I visited with vegetarian friends, and while they enjoyed their meals, I felt the menu could offer a greater variety of vegetarian and pescatarian options. More plant-based dishes and a wider selection of fish would make the experience even better, catering to a broader range of dietary preferences. That said, the quality of ingredients, presentation, and overall experience were excellent, and I would definitely return.
