Let's just say my husband and I make 2 day trips to come to San Diego from Austin BECAUSE of this place. We are officially moving to San Diego in a few months so we can eat it all the time. It's the best Mexican place I've ever been to and I've been to many.
Love this place. Very humble setting and high quality food. Definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants in San Diego. Things to know: cash only, big parking lot, closed Sundays. I will absolutely be back again and again and again.
Best Mexican food out of a small shop with tables to eat in or carry out. Reasonable prices. My favorite place when we come back to San Diego for a visit. The rolled tacos with guacamole we had for lunch were excellent. We ordered chili rellenos to go for dinner later. They didn’t disappoint.
the lady at the front desk was so kind and sweet. she makes such a caring atmosphere. each and every customer is important to her. thanks so much for the food
Excellent blend of ingredients and flavors which you want from a hard shell taco. It's next level of quality from the usual taquerias. The taco shell was crispy, not greasy or oily, with flavorful shredded beef. Their beans and rice are delicious as well. You can tell they care.
Maritza’s is our favorite Mexican Restaurant. My brother loves to come for Carnitas Wednesdays as so many others. We dine in and many of the to go orders seemed to be the Wednesday Carnitas. I like many of the dishes, taco plates, enchiladas and other combo plates. Our favorite thing that brings us here is the homemade salsa that Carmen makes every day. You can see her chopping the chili peppers and blending the delicious salsa. Many people also comment on the their salsa. The location is a little hidden in the south west area of Clairemont off of Mt Acadia in a little strip mall. The building is also set back off Mt Acadia so you need to drive to the back of parking lot entrance. It is worth going there. It is a hidden gem of Mexican Food and many of the customers are regulars which Carmen knows most by name and she knows what they normally order. She and her mom , also named Carmen are so nice and attentive. If you haven’t been there , it is a must try, highly recommended.
Nice Mexican food but quite pricey (carne asada around $20 for that plate) but they have other cheaper plates and options. The paper plate got sliced through while I was slicing the beef steak but the food was overall quite nice. Especially enjoyed the guacamole and salsa and putting everything on the tortilla to make taco.
What a place. Very old school. Great people with great food. I got the asada chimichanga, and it was perfect. It's cash only, but worth it. Ordered by phone and they said okay, 21 minutes, and they weren't lying. 21 minutes later the order was ready.
