Monterrey's Mexican Restaurant

I truly love this place! My wife and I have been coming here for years because the prices are always reasonable, the food is consistently outstanding, and the service is great. I can honestly say that every time we've been here, the food has been delicious. Everything is made from scratch, and you can definitely tell. Portions are extremely generous, and you get alot for your money. As of the date of this review, their dinner combos, which are all priced uniformly at $14.99, are a true bargain, because for that you get a gigantic plate of food! On this most recent visit on 9/18/25, I had a combo with an enchilada, a burrito, beans and rice. Everything was extremely tasty, and as per usuaI, I had enough left over for a hearty meal at home. Though you really can't go wrong with anything you order, there are two standouts I have to mention. First, if you like fajitas, you've got to try the ones here. They are beyond incredible, no matter what filling you choose. Second, you MUST try their flan, a traditional Mexican custard-like dessert with a sweet, syrupy topping. The flan here is heavenly. If you've never had it, this is the place to try it. I've eaten flan many places over the years, and their flan is literally the best I've ever had. Service here is always phenomenal as well. Every server we've ever had here has been friendly and attentive, and they've always brought food out quickly, while it's still piping hot. This time our server even went the extra mile. Early in our meal, we mentioned to him how much we loved the place, and how wonderful we thought the food was. Our compliments were rewarded when he unexpectedly arrived after our meal with a surprise free dessert (flan!). It's hard to find service like that these days! If you enjoy Mexican food, I highly recommend you give this place a try. It definitely is the best you'll find anywhere around here. No matter where you're coming from, I think you'll find the trip will be worth it.

Although I live in Liverpool, NY this is well worth the drive to Newark, NY. You are warmly greeted and seated. They served chips and salsa as we looked at the menu....our food and service was wonderful! And we will make a repeat trip.

Mainstay of our family visits to Newark. We often wind up here because it's so reliably good. Got the grilled jalapenos app this time, and they were excellent. Not fancy, layout is a bit spare, but the food and vibe hit the spot.

The food is extremely good and the portions are insane. Well worth it.

Dish were good and reasonably priced, it was American Mexican. Did not upcharge for getting a double serving of rice instead of beans. When seated it brought chips and salsa. When we went for lunch it was pretty quite. Would come back.

My friends and I had the BEST experience today. Our server Tyler was fantastic. He was hilarious, friendly, and he made our experience the best one we have had at Monterrey. The service was quick and efficient. Twenty stars for Tyler!

Our first visit here. This place was fantastic!! Extensive menu and friendly waitstaff. Our food came out pretty quickly but we were there for an early lunch. So delicious! We will definitely be back.

Food is consistently good. Prices, just like everywhere else, have gone up but not crazy. Service is a good 4.5 out of 5 with a 5 out of 5 during certain times. Atmosphere is typical and stereotypically Americanized Mexican family friendly.
