Highly recommended!!! Homemade dishes from the owners and everything was superb!!! We had trouble looking for the place at first as they open the doors just right before serving but the wait was super worth it! I suggest coming before opening hours, and wait. There are only few table and you might risk to wait for a long time.
Hits all the buzz-words; authentic, local, anthony bourdain-esque. A must in Porto! However..! The wait time is long so make sure to be there once they open, and be discreet when taking pictures ( to avoid making the lovely grannies angry at you :) ).
Local small family owned tavern. Very value for money and really tasty dishes. Staff very friendly. Would recommend and revisit.
Feel at grandmother home! You eat your home traditional food in autenthic way. I’m not portuguese but i come from island country who eat a lot of seafood. You can feel how honest and simple the food but delicious. They run the bussines for only two persons. The waiter and the grandma who cook the food. The place is so simple and hidden but must try for your visit in Porto. The best and not tourist price i can say ( european price i mean). I really recommend this place if you not expect fancy or michelin star.
COME HERE!! If you want real authentic Portuguese food I was treated so nicely by the elderly ladies who were just cooking for everyone. Come early because when I got sit down I noticed a few minutes later there was a line outside. From what I remember it opened at 8:00pm
Humble yet delicious dining. An absolute must. The evening we were there, they only opened for dinner for a brief 2 hour slot (19:30-21:30). We and others queued up for a table and it was worth the wait. The house white wine was cheap and delicious (€5) , and everything we ordered was perfect.
So this very old lady was just sitting in the back, next to the tower of cases of drinks, not eating, just watching. I thought it was weird; turns out she was the owner. Well, tells you how long this place has probably been around. Although it was mostly full of tourists, we were all there to eat some authentic Portuguese food. Everything was very good, I’m guessing they were the old lady’s recipes. Simple, fresh, tasty.
Great place to have little snacks and a few beers after a big day of touring around town. Run by two grandmas, other than the normal fare- sardines, cod, octopus … we were able to try out caul, gizzards, intestines. The prices are great. There’s a wrong picture on google maps that’s really classy. It’s a mistake because this place is definitely hole in the wall. An old time treasure in the midst of a super glitzy part of town.
