Alforno Bakery & Café offers a refined and visually pleasing café experience that feels both modern and welcoming. From the moment you walk in, the space makes a strong impression with its clean design, elegant patterned flooring, warm lighting, and calm, European-inspired ambiance. The interior strikes a comfortable balance between stylish and cozy, making it an ideal place to relax, meet friends, or enjoy a quiet coffee break. The coffee presentation is a standout. Lattes are served in beautifully designed cups with well-executed latte art, showing care and consistency in preparation. The hot chocolate was smooth and comforting—enjoyable overall, though fairly average in flavor. Still, it complemented the atmosphere and made for a pleasant sit-down experience. On the savory side, the Penne Rosa was nicely presented and visually appealing. However, the flavor did not quite meet expectations. The sauce felt a bit mild and lacked depth, resulting in a dish that was acceptable but not particularly memorable. It was filling and decent, yet it didn’t fully reflect the elevated aesthetic and presentation of the café. The pastry counter itself looked clean, well-organized, and tempting, with a variety of baked goods on display, though I did not order a pastry during this visit. Service was calm, professional, and efficient, aligning well with the café’s polished and relaxed environment. The overall vibe encourages you to slow down and enjoy the moment rather than rush through it. Overall, Alforno Bakery & Café excels in atmosphere, coffee presentation, and overall aesthetic, with some room for improvement in its savory food offerings. I would return for coffee and the café experience, and I hope to see continued refinement in the hot food menu.
A beautiful spot with great coffee, fresh pastries, and a cozy atmosphere. The food is consistently delicious — especially the brunch dishes and baked goods. It can get busy, but the quality and vibe make it worth it. A perfect place for a relaxed breakfast, a quick pastry run, or a casual meet-up with friends.
Beautiful big bakery &cafe in one corner near downtown!!! Wow so many seatings for any size of group! Gorgeous place inside with plenty of options for desserts and sweets! So I’m trying to love this place as much as I can, but 3 times I was here and 3 times I had some issues. I feel like barista there doesn’t pay attention to details for drinks, I’m getting wrong drink 3 times it’s insane. I understand it’s always busy in there and there’s only 1 lady working on drinks usually, but I’m paying for product I want to get, and 3 times I’m throwing out this drink because it’s not what I wanted…. Delicious desserts, yes, great! I love atmosphere there as a co-working space, but I don’t think I’ll come one more time just because it’s getting frustrating now to get something you don’t want. Beautiful seatings outside as well, and they have just benches for your fur friends to wait near the entrance. I gave this place 3 tries and I’m giving up now. I hope this place will meet your expectations and right order of drink!
Our wedding cake from Alforno Bakery (through Teatro Ristorante) was a masterpiece. It was elegant, delicious, and absolutely perfect for our intimate celebration. From the moment we saw it, we were struck by its simple yet stunning design. It fit beautifully with our aesthetic. But the real magic was in the flavor. Every bite was rich, moist, and perfectly balance - mot too sweet, just indulgent enough. If you're looking for a cake that’s both beautiful and unforgettable, Alforno Bakery delivers in every way. Highly recommended!
Nestled on 7th Street SE in Calgary, Alforno Bakery & Café is a delicious whirlwind of flavor and activity. Their cakes are a dream—elegant, rich, and just the right amount of indulgent. The pizzas are fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced, while the coffee consistently hits that perfect note of bold and smooth. It’s not just a café—it’s a scene. The place is always bustling, alive with conversation, clinking cups, and the aroma of fresh baking. Whether you’re grabbing a quick espresso or settling in for a cozy bite, the dynamic vibe makes every visit feel like you’re part of something vibrant and local. Service is fast-paced but warm, and despite the crowds, the team keeps things flowing with impressive grace. If you love places that combine culinary excellence with a lively atmosphere, Alforno on 7th Street is a standout.
We loved it! We went there for a delicious brunch and also bought fresh cold-pressed juices, coffee and sourdough bread there many times during our time in Calgary and Alforno never disappointed! Liza was the most outstanding & friendly waitress! Made our time so special. Highly recommend visiting :-)
Affono Café (7th Street, Downtown Calgary) Nice spot with really good coffee and cake — perfect for catching up with friends. The place has a trendy vibe, but parking can be tricky, and it’s often hard to find a table inside if you’re just there for coffee or dessert since most of the space is used for meal services. Outdoor seating would be nice if it weren’t so cold — no heaters set up yet. Customer service could be improved; staff seemed quite busy and didn’t appear very welcoming, which made the experience feel a bit rushed.
Yummy dessert. The pistachio cake was so good soft not too sweet so delightful and tasty. I tried the carrot cake latte it was delicious. Service was quick and staff were nice . The bakery was clean. I'll be back to try pizza and some more baked goods.
