I’ve had Bond-o on my list for quite some time after hearing great things about their burgers. It’s definitely out of the way from Johnson City (about a 45-minute round trip), so after some convincing, I finally got my wife to make the drive with me. Naturally, if I’m willing to go that far, my expectations are pretty high. The interior is unique — it feels like an old garage or warehouse space, which gives it a distinct character. There was only one server working, and from what we could tell, she was handling everything. She was very nice and clearly working hard. We both ordered burgers; my wife got okra as her side, and mine came with fries. The food took a little longer than expected, but given the small-town setting and limited staff, I wasn’t expecting a quick in-and-out experience. Unfortunately, the burgers themselves were underwhelming. Neither of us was wowed, and there wasn’t much flavor in the patties. The fries and okra were also lacking seasoning and overall taste. For a place known for burgers — and given the drive — it just didn’t meet expectations. When we went to check out, I stood at the register for about five minutes before anyone came to ring us up, and by that point, several other tables had finished and lined up behind me. Again, it appeared to be the same single server doing everything, so the delay made sense — but it still added to the overall experience. I can now say I’ve tried Bond-o, and while it wasn’t the worst burger I’ve ever had, it was nowhere close to the level I was hoping for. Given the distance and the experience, I don’t see us making the drive again.
This place is a true gem. It's a small hole in the wall restaurant, off the beating path. The burger is second to none. It was fresh, with fresh toppings and two juicy meat patties and perfectly cooked bacon. The fried mushrooms were scrumptious. I love them. The clientele in the restaurant while I was there speaks volumes for the restaurant. It was mostly older folks who knew they were coming to get a great meal. I would definitely return to this place to enjoy a wonderful burger. I recommend you do the same.
This is a wonderful local spot with excellent food and service. We’ve visited twice—once for dinner and again for breakfast—and both meals were outstanding. The conversion of an old auto shop into a restaurant is a clever idea, enhanced by antique signs and a couple of classic arcade games (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Pac-Man). I highly recommend checking out this unique place for a great dining experience.
At the recommendation from some folks at work, my husband and I gave them a try. The burgers were fresh hand patties, fries and drinks. If you want a tiny burger this is not for you. The burgers were huge and fry portion was great. We went on a Friday evening after work, not terribly busy on a rainy Friday night, but that was great for us. Friday night is their normal night for all you can eat catfish or whitefish. Those around us who already knew this were not disappointed with their portions either. My only regret was not taking photos. Probably one of the best burgers we have had in quite a while. Love the nostalgic down home atmosphere. Pricing was reasonable especially given the size of the burgers and side portions and drinks. Definitely recommend. Family, date, night, and senior friendly.
This little unassuming garage style building holds a lovely restaurant. In for breakfast. Biscuits are huge and fluffy. Excellent portions. Friendly staff. Family friendly place. Small town feel, great atmosphere. Zero complaints. 100% returnin. Parking may appear challenging at first but not terrible. Spotless clean. Top notch for locals and travelers alike. Just a short trip from Bristol Motor Speedway so location is near to everything. Prices are very reasonable for the portions.
Great local place serving up decent food at a good price. We had the Western Burger and the Philly cheese steak. We both had fries. All was delivered hot and with a smile. Sadly, we didn't get dessert we'd hoped for because all they had was ice cream. I was hoping to get a slice of Carmel cake that I had read about! Maybe next time. I'd recommend stopping by and grabbing a bite! The meats were all great and seasoned well.
Ate lunch for the first time here today. You seat yourself and the waitress was quick to take our order. The food came fast and it was delicious. The arcade cabinets were unplugged during my visit but very exciting to know they have them!!
Very good food any time of day. Since they opened, it has become a regular stop for us. Best biscuits and gravy around, burgers are big, fresh and delicious. Always cooked perfectly. Dinners and specials are good too, good value besides. If you like a filling breakfast, try the Breakfast Bowl. The BEST part of all, is the PEOPLE. Friendly as it gets, always smiling and they know how to treat a customer right. They make a person feel like family. We just love this place !
