I am originally from California, but currently residing in New York. I traveled 16 hours for the Silver Gloves boxing tournament so while here I was looking for authentic Mexican food. There are a lot of options in the area, but I went with Cali KC because of the food options as well as the reviews. It did not disappoint! 13 of us came to eat here yesterday , this is a hole in the wall spot.. (if you know, you know.. the hole in the wall restaurant are the best!) the hospitality was excellent, all of our food was flavorful and fresh.. this absolutely had the authentic flavor of what I got back home! The verde posole came with all the works and was soo flavorful, delicious (do not pass it up!!!) The tortas and quesadillas are huge ! They will most definitely feed 2! Home made tortillas, the rice had lots of flavor , the green salsa was bomb, the aqua Fresca .. don’t even get me started! Every person at our table raved about the food.. in fact It was so good that we ate there again today! Big shout out to the hostess Yureli , she had the best energy! Thank you girl for taking care of us, even how you answered the phone made my day! <3 Their cooks and staff 10 out of 10! Thank you for bringing us a little piece of home ! We hope to come back out next year and visit again.

Best Chile Rellenos around!!! Food is fresh red sauce is pretty spicy on enchiladas. Generpus servings. Some wait staff have limited English but friendly & patient with us non-spanish speakers. Parking lot gets full at peak hours

Best enchiladas rojas in the KC area, a little spicy just like this Latina likes them! The quesadillas are also delicious, huge, and corn tortillas made from scratch. It's ALWAYS busy in there and customer service not the best, but the food is so good that I overlook that. Just call your order in 15 minutes in advance for pick up and you should be good :)

Dine in or take out, the food is sooo tasty! The crispy birria tacos and guacamole are unmatched. I haven't tasted anything like that in KC before.

Very simple, plain setup. I ordered a quesadilla that was the size of my calf. I ate until full, and will have lunch for the next 2 days.

Great food. I had about everything on the menu. Steak used in tacos and other dishes is sometimes a little hit and miss (a bit gristly at times). Tamales preparda and tacos Brianna are great. Agua frescas are authentic. I saw an older gentleman sitting in the corner shelling fresh tamarindo for them. Clientele is mostly Hispanic so they wouldn't be there if it wasn't authentic. Large Corona familiar beer and 64oz salt rimmed Micheladas being enjoyed across the restaurant. Try it.

Ohhh my yum! I think we found a new favorite authentic taco place. AND it’s on this side of the state line so close to home even!! All the ingredients tasted so fresh and full of flavor! The server was super sweet and helpful too.

I've been hearing how good this restaurant is when they were in the gas station on the corner and, WOW, no wonder they needed a bigger place. The FOOD is so fresh, everything from the tortilla chips (I suspect homemade) to the avocado is incredible. The DO NOT serve chips and salsa like most.( It did look like they offered chips and gauc $) Service was FAST we sat, ordered and ate in approx 45 minutes. Super affordable! Will return-- seems like lunch on Saturdays are but dinner on taco Tuesdays didn't seem too busy. Thanks CaliKC!
