This is a gem right on the beautiful beach. The vibe is relaxed not touristy with a mix of Mexican and extranjeros. The service is wonderful- efficient but not pushy at all. The food is so good and huge portions for very reasonable prices. We were so happy to find Celestun welcoming and chill considering how easy it would be to become another tourist trap. Loved it so much we went back a week later. Oh and there were dolphins in front just offshore. Perfect.
This restaurant, location and staff was the highlight of our whole trip to Mérida and the surrounding area - we went & had such a wonderful experience we came back again a day later!! Amazing food, and free bathrooms and showers so you can make a whole beach day out of going for brunch/lunch. A HUGE shout out to Geraldo who was our waiter - we met him on day 1 and he was so friendly and helpful. When we saw him again the next time he remembered our names and so warmly welcomed us back. On our way out of Celestun that day we got a flat tire and called the restaurant to ask for any recommendations for a local repair, and ended up asking for Geraldo who spoke English. Within literally 15 minutes he arrived (without us asking!!) on a motorcycle after the restaurant had closed to help us change our spare tire - and even checked in on us to make sure we got home safely. Absolutely above and beyond generous and kind… We are so grateful!! We will always remember his kindness. And back to Los Pampanos: the food was amazing - we got Blue crab empanadas (the highlight!!), loved the Diablo fish, shrimp ceviche, guacamole, and fried plantains. Seating is in shade right on the beach - couldn’t be nicer. 10/10 recommend coming here!!
Great food, good atmosphere (tables available right on the beach- beautiful at sunset or inside). Our waiter (Enrique?) was so nice, went above and beyond, genuinely cared- made it an enjoyable experience.
The fish and shrimp were super fresh, the portions generous and the service lovely. English speaking waiters who were attentive and friendly. The bathrooms, changing stalls and shower were all clean. This was a lovely place to spend the afternoon as part of our Ria Celestun Biosphere and Beach excursion.
I’m from Vancouver BC and live part-time in Merida. Celestun is a great quiet spot for a beach day and Los Pampanos is an awesome restaurant on the beach. Our waiter Harry was very nice and helpful. We had our own beach loungers and hung out all afternoon.
This amazing place offers yummy sea food (we had octopus and blue crab), perfect service, and all the facilities you might need at the beach, including couple of sun beds available for customers. Very good value for money - portions are big and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend it.

This place is a gem! I’m still dreaming about my meal at Los Pampanos. Facing the sea, super relaxed and refreshing atmosphere. We went their after seeing the flamingos and mangroves. Their food was top notch. I really loved their guacamole, it was made fresh. Overall a great experience.
