This is by far the best food in Elgin!! It’s also the cleanest place and every time I go I feel like family because the staff and owners talk to me and make me feel welcomed. I love supporting family owned businesses instead of franchises or fast food. Overall my favorite spot around!! Highly recommend the big sopes and caldo de camarón con pescado. They have bomb atole de arroz con leche too! It’s like horchata rice pudding but warm, yum! Simply the best place to get an authentic Mexican meal and family environment.

Came in for lunch on a Saturday. Even tho it’s hidden it’s a must try. I went ahead and ordered four tacos Asada, Chorizo, Cecina and Lengua. The Asada was very good. The Chorizo is up there with the asada. The Cecina lacked in tender but still tasty. The lengua was delicious not a lot of places can make lengua tacos it did not disappoint. My Wife ordered the red pozole which it’s “estilo Veracruz” so it’s not your ordinary pozole. It’s was very tasty. Overall, they have different types of dishes which we will be coming back for more.

Really great!! I had the barbacoa steak and it was delicious. Tender and juicy, really nice. I'd definitely come back!!

Was in the area and found this place. The food here is ---homemade deliciousness!! I ordered the chilaquiles verdes con huevo (egg), it was very spicy, but it was delicious! The tortilla (chips) used in the dish, tasted fresh and homemade, I quite enjoyed that! My husband had the steak tacos, which he enjoyed. The salsas were very tasty and spicy! I also ordered the small sope con maíz morado (purple corn) de Rajas (sliced peppers & onions) and I was blown away! Purple corn is not something that you find served in most mexican restaurants so it was really a rare find and I had to try. The food was seasoned perfectly, oh and la agua de Jamaica (hibiscus tea), was sooooo good! Literally, the best I have ever had, --not overly sweet, fresh (no flavor packets used lol), it was just perfection! I will definitely recommend this place to everyone and I cant wait to go back and try more items! Update 9/8/25-- Tried something new, Huevos Rancheros, so gooood!! Note: I ate one before i took picture, you get 3. My husband also ordered something new, huevos con salchicha, he ate it before i could take picture. He said it was so good and would recommend! Food here is always delish, you will not be disappointed! ;)

Absolutely amazing. I drive almost 30 minutes one way to come here from the city. Makes me think of Mexico City, it’s that great. The tostadas are so good. The sopes hecho a mano. The chilaquiles. The salsas are both outstanding and actually spicy. My go to spot for Mexican food outside of la cocina de mi suegra. You have to go again and get the chilaquiles, verdes are my favorite, AMAZING!

Tere Tacos y Antojitos offers flavorful birria tacos with rich seasoning, though the meat portion could be more generous. The customer service is excellent, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Convenient parking and an accessible location make it a great spot for a quick and satisfying bite. Worth a visit!

First timers here, we ordered take-out. Turns out we should have dined in. Anyway, we got instant and friendly service for the $20 order of tacos, tortas and sides. Took longer to prep than I thought it should. Got home and the order was correct and the food was fantastic. Five stars.

I’ve only had the burrito and fries and it was seasoned to perfection. This was absolutely the best burrito I’ve had in years . I can’t wait to taste the tacos
