I haven’t been to Elams in a while every time I drive by they are closed. I stopped in on Saturday around 6:30 I got a whiting dinner with greens, red beans and rice and cornbread. The fish was hot out the grease, the greens was slamming and the beans and cornbread was on point. Im a happy customer.
I took my mom there for a fish dinner. They've been in the neighborhood for a long time. The food was GREAT!!! I will always go back!
Good food. If youre not in Detroit and want the good, this is your place. Chicken breast was fried but still moist after waiting to be eaten on my lunch break 4 hours later. Yams were flavorful, mac and cheese lacked the multiple cheese and moisture from the milk and eggs that Im used to, but still good. You gotta catch them open, though. Sundays have a wider menu.
Every August we make sure we visit the Elam Brothers restaurant during the Woodward cruise. The food is very tastful and fresly cooked. It reminds me of a good home cooked meal. See you next time.
The fried chicken was so darn good, crispy and fried to perfection. It is cooked to order so it is hot and fresh. The yams are quite tasty, color is perfect and sweet taste was awesome. As far as the fried Whiting... well let the picture speak for itself. I highly recommend you try it, quick drive for me from West Bloomfield to Pontiac, right off Woodward and Sq Lake.
I just love the professionalism of the owners and the good quality home cooking of the food that they serve....Not over seasoned. Updated 1-29-21.. What is going on? Are they closed permanently or temporarily? I miss my Woodward Elam Brothers.
I have been a customer for years and the food is excellent Chris has always been respectful. I'm not sure who the young lady is who takes orders but her attitude is in question. I won't go into details but hanging up on a customer if they seem to be taking a minute to decide should never happen. And the word WHAt should not be in asking what else would you like. Attitude adjustments need to be dealt with helping to run a business.
Like Grandma and Mom's Sunday dinner. Keep up the nice work! One complaint: please figure out how to remove the calories from your pound cake. It's da bomb and I'm addicted!
