So I ordered a Ribeye for carryout. When they asked me how I wanted it cooked, I told them, "I would like it served medium rare. So cooked rare." Normally, resturants undercook steaks knowing they need to let them sit for 12 minutes before serving to lock in the juices, and since it's kept under a warmer for that time, it often continues to cook. Well, I learned the hard way they don't do it the normal way. They just serve it right off the grill. I thought this might be an issue after the lady said, "Okay. It will be ready for pick up in 10 min" and then hung up. I thought about calling back and asking how it could possibly be only 10 min when it has to sit for at least 12 min before being served. So yeah, it was undercooked. That is mostly on me. Sadly, the steak was 1/3 all fat, and the other 2/3 was harvy on the fat. So, I paid $28 for a small undercooked steak. Oddly, they only serve steak on fri, sat, and sun. I waited 2 months for the opportunity to make it as weekends aren't the greatest nights to go out to eat. So I was bummed. Now the service was fine. No complaints. And the atmosphere seemed nice. Husker themed, which took me back to my hometown of Lincoln. I won't be going back, but that doesn't mean you and others shouldn't at least give it a try. Just remember, they don't know you're supposed to let the steak finish before serving, so order accordingly, and you should be fine.
A really home style locals place that is well outside of town but worth the drive. Great steak, which is obviously locally grown, very good baked potato, enh sort of salad bar but really good coleslaw that you dressed with your choice of dressing. Very homey locals oriented decor (don't get dressed up, you are more likely to see the next door farmer/rancher in work clothes than someone in duds) but the food is what it is about. We'd spent the last 10 days in "fishing country" with the best of that, but wanted a good steak; this was the place to get it! The homey atmosphere was perfect for what and where, but not something you would describe as "nice", the decor was fun to look at and fit for the rest of this restaurant that is in the back three-quarters of a quick-mart sort of filling station but a bit too loud and crowded for the two of us that are very hard of hearing. (Fortunately, we were there on a Sunday evening and it was pretty quite so we were VERY happy with the whole ambiance. Also, this review is a balance of full disclosure and foodie pleasure.) The wines are not sophisticated or what one might want in a good steak house and only listed by varietal; but when I asked barkeep what the reds were;Josh! We had both a Cab and Merlot, and both were quite good especially for the price. The whole deal was a 9.8 of 10!
Food and service was good. It was very busy but they did a great job at keeping up and checking in on us. Highly recommend their steak. Update..08/02/2025... went to eat on Sat after work. Google maps says open 7 AM to 1 AM. The restaurant was not open it is only open 5 PM To 9 PM Fri Sat and Sun according to the hours on the door. This needs to be updated on Google maps. Waste of a 20 mile drive.
We stopped here, 830pm , could tell they had been busy, they took care of us , they do have a salad bar , ribeye, fish, chicken, deep fried mushrooms bacon wrapped BBQ shrimp
Wing night Wednesdays are wonderful. Get the fries as they are 5 star.
The food is awesome the atmosphere is chill yet the customer service is on a scale of 1 - 10 I rate it a 4, either cashier that is on duty seems to never go above n beyond to help me feel comfortable.
Nothing to complain about with this place they never let you down the food and the employees and the investment are great
Great food! Their steaks are to die for! This is a full service gas station with an amazing restaurant in it. If you are traveling this is a must. The salad bar is absolutely to die for and you can't go wrong with their steaks.
