It was my first time there and I will be back. I had the Mongolian beef and it was delicious. Some fried rice would’ve been better for me, but I guess that’s a personal preference. The people are absolutely outstanding. Very friendly talkative. I will be back to try something else on their menu.
Great traditional diner food. This place looks like it’s been here for ages; but that means they’ve perfected the food! Quick and friendly service will bring you excellent diner breakfast fare. Don’t miss the home made cinnamon roll!
We've always been treated well at the Valley Restaurant. When splitting a meal, they brought us an extra plate without us asking for it. The meal came with soup, and they brought us two soups. And the food was delicious.
We’ve eaten here two nights in a row. We are from Alabama and this little place is beside our hotel so it’s convenient, BUT the food has been incredible!! It’s just a quaint, peaceful place with incredible food.
Food was very tasty, had the chicken teriyaki with white rice and a salad. The portion was generous. I had to pack half of it for later and it tasted good even after reheating. This is a small family restaurant, it was clean, service was quick, staff was pleasant and price was reasonable.
I would consider this place a type of dive restaurant, and by no means is that a bad thing. The food was fantastic and the service was great. The server was chatting with a couple of locals, and they all had me laughing and smiling. Good people, good food. What more do you need.
We were in Juneau on a cruise and my friend searched for a place for lunch and we found the Valley. Definitely worth the drive. Nice place for lunch with large portions. The club sandwich was tasty. My friend had the teriyaki chicken.
Delicious Filipino home cooking in a cozy atmosphere, worth a detour off the beaten path! I read about Valley Restaurant in an Eater article on Filipino/Tlingit cooking that said this is the best place to try the Alaskan style of home-cooked chicken adobo. Let me tell you I was not disappointed! It was a chilly, rainy day and the meal began with a super comforting arroz caldo that felt like a warm hug. This was followed by our order of lumpia that were perfectly crispy and not greasy. Then came the main event: the chicken adobo and fried rice. The chicken has to be some of the best I have ever eaten. Cooked on the bone and bathed in tangy broth, It could not have been more tender and juicy. I went for the upgrade to the fried rice with the meal and it was also excellent. My partner ordered the Chinese noodles without meat. It was a steamy bowl of tasty broth, noodles, and bok choy. Another perfect choice for a chilly day! The restaurant itself is more or less the sort of roadside diner I grew up with. Booth seating and a big breakfast menu. A stuffed bear greets you at the door. This is a true locals joint and everyone is friendly. The chef/owner came out and talked to everybody. She beamed with the deserved pride of bringing such pleasure to her friends and patrons. All in all Valley Restaurant is well worth the detour off you're passing through Juneau and heading out for a hike at Mendenhall Glacier. If I find my way back to Juneau, I will make it my goal to come back to Valley Restaurant.
