Nice little mom-and-pop type place. I felt like the breaded tenderloin here was fairly average. It was a little thinner than I like and I thought it could use just a bit more seasoning, but still not a bad tenderloin. The service was great though too!
Few restaurants hold enough appeal to visit several times a month or week. For my extended family living in Carmel that place is Dooley O'Tooles. While visiting with them recently they took me to lunch and showed me the ropes. Between the five of us, here is what we ordered: Breaded Pork Tenderloin with Chicken Velvet Soup “Mini” Breaded Pork Tenderloin with Tater Tots and Baked Beans Chicken Salad Sandwich with Cream of Mushroom Soup Breaded Pork Tenderloin with Side Salad Breaded Pork Tenderloin topped with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy (secret menu) The BPTs were excellent— a quintessential example of the Indiana staple. Thickness was thinner-to-medium, breading was flavorful with the proper amount of salt, and toppings were fresh and crispy. They source their meats locally from Joe's Butcher Shop and Fish Market and the quality was immediately noticeable. I love when small businesses support each other! The Chicken Velvet Soup was simultaneously simple and luxurious. I detected a pleasantly light celery flavor that complimented its richness. Maybe even some curry? I could’ve been satisfied with a bowl of it as my meal. The Cream of Mushroom Soup, the soup du jour, was my Aunt’s favorite. She playfully begged the owner to put it on the regular menu. If you like chicken salad, order it here— very good. The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and inviting. I described it to my lunchmates as “everything Chili’s and Applebee’s wants to be”. It was incredibly clean, with its age only adding to its charm. Neon lights, brass handrails, and the bar right in the middle— my elder Millennial self felt right at home. Our server remembered the drink orders of my aunt, uncle, and grandmother. Owner Doug Kemp came by and spoke to us at length, welcoming my father and I as first-timers. We asked Doug about the restaurant’s unique hours, as they are closed on the weekends. He explained that family and work/life balance are important to him and his staff, so they prioritize it. I applaud such a human approach. Overall I was thrilled with our experience. As the lunch crowd dispersed we lingered, telling stories and catching up. And Dooley O’Toole’s was the perfect spot to do so.
Love this place! The food is good. We come here for the tenderloin and the hot bacon dressing. The tenderloin never disappoints! What makes Dooley O'Toole's shine above the rest though, is the staff. The people working here are just wonderful; super friendly and very hard working. I came with another family who had a 10 week old and I had a 9 month old. The staff paid us so much extra attention and were so nice to the kids. They made us feel like they actually wanted us there and kids being a little noisy wasn't a problem at all. A very good family friendly restaurant that if you haven't tried you need to add to your list!
Truly amazing food and Brent was the best server we've had in years. The owner sent us out some soup samples and they were phenomenal. We travel alot and always try new places and this place is a gem. We thank you for such a great experience.
Hidden gem in Carmel. Went for lunch and it was the spot to be at! Great tenderloin!
Have been to Dooley's several times over the decades. Went again a couple of weeks ago and they never disappoint. Had the Salisbury Steak, French Fries and a Salad. It was so good. My friends had the tenderloin. They were HUGE! We will be back!
Best Pork Tenderloin in Indiana! Was a great visit with family. My brother-in-law had never had a pork tenderloin and took him here for the experience. He couldn't believe the size!
One of the best breaded tenderloins in the state and good choice of sides , one being fresh fruit. The serving staff was attentive and friendly. If you like an nice meaty breaded tenderloin at reasonable price, be sure to make this your stop for lunch or dinner.
