I am retired Sous Chef. The fried chicken is extremely delicious! Can’t imagine chicken any better than this. Absolutely have to give a shout out to the Parker’s at this location and at Arlington, I am handicap and they make every effort to accommodate me and my family. All their food is EXCEPTIONAL! I am self identified as a tough critic. I have watched their food preparation and as being a retired RN everyone does a fantastic job with food safety. My wife loves their fried chicken livers. Great Job! A++++++
Good portions and yummy food. The hush puppies are delicious. The slaw is interesting in that it is so finely processed that it almost seems mashed. The fried okra was enjoyable. As was the fried chicken. The staff was pleasant and patient. Their sign said short staffed but they were doing an excellent job keeping up with the lunch rush! I noticed their mission statement and am pleased to see it. We plan to come back to eat more next time!!
Let me get the worst part out of the way: the French fries were cold and flavorless. Sure, the temperature is bound to decrease during their delivery journey, but I could tell they weren't fresh when they went into the container. I'm sure cramming them into the same container as my chicken and potatoes didn't help them get any less soggy (hello, condensation), but I digress. As I have had the rest of the items from other places in ENC, it was hard not to compare... so although I must admit I've had better elsewhere, everything else was still pretty good and hit the spot. The hush puppies were my favorite! I do recommend this restaurant, but as I have moved, I won't be returning anytime soon. However, I may do so when I come back for vacation. I knocked off a star for those horrid fries, but overall, I was content with my meal.
Got the combination dinner. I think I liked the fried chicken even more than the barbecue but they were both awesome! The slaw is different than any other slaw I've had before and it was . Mac and cheese and okra were both fine but nothing special. I didn't really care for the potatoes but might just be my personal preference. You can't beat the value ... SO MUCH FOOD for the price. Service was great too. Highly recommend.
Our First time going and the service and food was great
This location is a few minutes away from where we live, so my partner and I came here for dinner. I read that the fried chicken was good, so I planned on getting the fried chicken dinner. My partner got the BBQ dinner. We were asked if we wanted a small or a large, and we both went with large. For my dinner, I got the dark meat chicken with three sides: green beans, macaroni and cheese, and french fries. It also came with a choice of hush puppies or corn sticks, and I got the hush puppies. My partner got the brunswick stew, macaroni and cheese, fried okra, and the corn sticks. We got a large sweet tea and a cup of water for our drinks. We placed our order, and the cashier assisted us in navigating the menu and choices. We sat down and waited for about 10 minutes before our order was called. Our meals were about $14 each, and that was an amazing price for the amount of food we got. It could easily be two meals, possibly three. The fried chicken was delicious. Very juicy and flavorful. The mac and cheese was creamy and had a good flavor profile. The green beans tasted very nice and were very green. The french fries were good, too! I tried my partner's fried okra and it was great. Sometimes, fried okra can be slimy, but it was not slimy at all. The hushpuppies and corn sticks felt and tasted like they were freshly fried. The sweet tea was absolutely delicious and one of the best sweet teas I've had in the state of North Carolina. I am a sweet tea fan and I like it very sweet, so this one was great. We got a tea refill before we left, and the person who helped us was very nice! Every person we interacted with was kind and helpful. I like that they have drive-through, to-go, and dine-in options for eating. We really enjoyed this experience and will definitely be back!
