We picked up a book listing Vancouver coffee shops thinking we'd visit them all over time. Our first stop was "Birds & The Beets" and then we threw the book away. This place is fantastic. Food is fabulous (have you tried the avocado toast?!), the service is terrific, and the location/ambiance is perfect (see attached photo).

We needed a solid coffee and this didn’t disappoint. Would highly recommend. The food was on point too. I had the chicken sandwich and it was honestly one of the best I’ve had in a while. Fresh bread. Loads of filling. Met a nice dog called Buddy in there too. Woof woof.

I had such a satisfying experience with the breakfast sandwich, roast beef sandwich, and coffee—it was the perfect trio. The breakfast sandwich was absolutely delicious: the eggs were fluffy, the bread was toasted just right, and the combination of flavors made every bite comforting and flavorful. The roast beef sandwich was equally impressive—tender, juicy slices of beef layered with fresh toppings and packed with flavor. It was hearty, satisfying, and tasted homemade in the best way possible. And the coffee? So smooth and rich, with a deep aroma that instantly lifted my mood. It tied everything together perfectly and made the whole meal feel warm and complete. Definitely one of the best combos I’ve had in a while—fresh, flavorful, and full of care. Highly recommend!

The sandwiches are just amazing. We also love getting their sourdough loaves. The only thing that is taking a star away is that it's super hot in the summer as they don't have air conditioning. Having the doors and windows open helps. But, it's been a while since I ate there in the summer, so maybe it's changed.

The service is friendly. The environment is aesthetic. And, best of all the food is delicious and filling. The roast beef sandwich was tender and flavourful. I also had the biggest smile on my face when I got my cappuccino with a clown on it. I felt truly seen with that latte art choice. Happy to find this place and come again in the future.

This coffee shop is pure magic! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a cozy escape from the outside world. The décor is perfectly curated—stylish yet comfortable, with little details that make you want to stay for hours. The vibe is so relaxing and welcoming, it’s as if the space was designed to make every sip of coffee taste even better. Honestly, it’s not just a place to grab a drink—it’s an experience you’ll want to come back to again and again.

We tried EVERY sandwich on the menu with coworkers! Breakfast Sandwich consistent go-to pick! Fluffy eggs with a hint of buttery cheesiness, topped with pickled onions. Perfect for those who love sandwiches that are neither greasy nor tough-chewing Chicken Sandwich Available after 11 AM. The chimichurri paired with chicken is unexpectedly special—harmonizes beautifully with the ciabatta bread. Avocado & Poached Egg Features their thick-cut housemade sourdough. Same combo as Nelson the Seagull’s but half the price—total bang for your buck! Miso Barley Bowl Looks humble but seriously delicious... Loaded with roasted veggies, pickles, and barley tossed in miso vinaigrette. Topped with a perfectly poached egg—pure comfort in a bowl Tofu Bánh Mì This vegan version swaps the essential chicken liver pâté for lentil paste. Overall vibe is Fresh, wholesome, and everything made-to-order. Fair prices especially for Gastown The Birds & The Beets

I come here often for their breakfast sandwich. For some reason I have become a huge fan of their hot sauce. If you like a bit of heat, do not miss it.
