Joyful House is hands down the best Chinese food not only in Saline but in the greater Ann Arbor area. My family gets the same takeout order at least one night a month. Our relatives from out of town always want Joyful House when they come to visit! The food is always pretty expensive per dish but worth it. Every other local Chinese restaurants' dishes are bland and service is poor compared to Joyful House. Once you taste it you'll never want Chinese from anywhere else!
Joyful House is just great. Always the best food. I skip past three other Chinese places (that I’ve already tested) to go here. The family loves it! The lemon chicken, beef and broccoli, chicken fried rice, pork dumplings, egg rolls, and crab Rangoon are all delicious. I ate most of the dumplings before I remembered to take a picture of them, LOL.
My friend and I were here Tuesday, 3/12/2024. This is the best food I've had in a very long time. We chatted with Judy, and she told us of her & her husband's homelands. She was so nice. I will come here again. I don't get to Saline much, but if I do, this is my place to eat. I had the Sweet & Sour Chicken. Also love their egg rolls.
We have lived in Saline for over 20 years and have been ordering from Joyful House regularly for two decades. The owner is courteous and the food is delicious. We have never been disappointed in anything we've ordered. I am so surprised to see any negative reviews at all. We have tried the other Chinese restaurants in Saline and Ann Arbor, and Joyful House is our favorite!
been going to joyful house since i can remember there being a buffet and upstairs portion. my experiences have always been pleasant and amazing. my family and me have known the owners and their family for almost 20 years at this point. the food is always fresh and prices have been good even through covid. my personal favorite off the menu is the soup it’s always hot and fresh. :)
Friendly and tasty food. While it's not very authentic this place has higher quality food compared to other places in saline (it's not greasy and the cuts of meat lower grade pieces of fat). Staff is incredibly friendly and efficient. This is my family's go to place for take out.
This is absolutely the best Chinese restaurant in saline. The other two are like fast food in comparison. I don't live in town but I go out of my way to get food from JH rather than just about any other source south of Ann Arbor. You can immediately tell the ingredients are good and their sauces are unique. The egg rolls are decent (not my favorite, but I'd call them above average). Every time I take someone here, they always tell me, "whoa this is the best [insert item here] that I've had in a while!" I say yes that's why we go here LOL I appreciate the quality they have and hope they never start using cheaper ingredients in the future.
Joyful House is hands down the best Chinese place in Saline. I've eaten at a few places around town and this one beats them all. Best of all, the food is consistent. I've eaten here at least a dozen times and the food is always delicious. I remember Joyful House when it was a larger restaurant, complete with a buffet. The restaurant has since downsized, with a fair number of tables and a pleasant eating environment. Most tables are set for two, and as a family of seven we do have to combine some tables but it isn't too much of an issue. My go-to dish is chicken lo mein, but I'll often get chicken with mixed vegetables as well. I judge every place by how well they make these two dishes, and Joyful House really nails both. The lo mein always has tender chicken with the perfect amount of flavor; never too salty or too bland. The chicken with mixed vegetables has the perfect variety of vegetables, and the sauce is outstanding. The rice is always perfectly cooked as well. Tonight I ordered a lo mein with hot-and-sour soup, fried pork dumplings and crab rangoons. Everything was delicious, and for around $25, it was a great meal. I've yet to find a restaurant in Saline or even Ann Arbor that makes better Chinese than Joyful House. I'm confident in saying that no matter what you order, you'll enjoy.
