Great country home style cooking. Food came out quickly considering how busy they were.
One of the best iconic restaurants in Hazlehurst. The Hood's have remodeled and it looks really good inside and the food is spectacular as always. When I come home I always try to grab a burger and onion rings, my favorite.
Hamburger Steak at Stark’s Family Restaurant — Hazlehurst, MS If comfort had a flavor, it’d be Stark’s hamburger steak. This 9oz fresh ground chuck comes smothered in rich brown gravy, topped with grilled onions, and served with a crisp salad, golden fries, and toast. It’s the kind of plate that doesn’t just feed you—it hugs you from the inside out. The steak itself is juicy and well-seasoned, with just enough char to give it depth. The gravy? Silky, savory, and generous. Pair it with sweet tea and you’ve got a Southern supper that feels like a Sunday afternoon. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this dish is a must-try. It’s not fancy—it’s familiar. And sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.
Food very good. Had the plate specials. One entree 3 vegies drink included. Wish it was closer. Stoped on way back fron New Orelans to Arkansas.
Excellent service, amazing food! Our group had cheeseburgers, bacon cheeseburgers, the po' boy, shrimp tacos, onion rings and cheese curds. All of it was really good, fresh, homemade food! Burgers, onion rings and curds were exceptional!
This place was a blast. We stopped on our drive to New Orleans. The seafood platter was very filling and affordable. Everything we had was just perfect, even the ice cream at the end.
The Hoods did a great job completely remodeling the restaurant and paving the entire parking lot. Everything is up to snuff. Well worth your time and trouble.
The Daily Specials are phenomenal!! And the service is FAST! I got the chicken fried steak with rice and gravy, corn and greens. My husband got the hamburger steak with Mac n cheese, and corn! It was so good we cleared the plate!
