I have decided to re-write my review because my initial review was way too long. This is now my go to place to order breakfast, lunch and dinner in Gary specifically for the Maxwell Pork chop sandwich. Believe me, skip the fish here and the breakfast is averaged but the Maxwell pork chop sandwich which comes with French fries is off the hook here. I’ve been back 3 times to order the Maxwell pork chop sandwich which according to ChatGPT is named after a style of pairing thick on the bone pork chop topped with grilled onions, pickled jalapeño peppers and mustard on a simple hamburger bun served on Maxwell St, Chicago which is the polish part of town. So this delicious sandwich appears to be a Chicago specialty and there is nothing as delicious as this on the East Coast or in NYC where I am from. Not even the braciole from Little Italy tastes as good as this. The gyro salad with Italian dressing is also very good here and very large.
I love it here they are so friendly everytime we come here. Bonus - They have a drive-thru. They even recognized me which was cool, shows how caring they are the food is delicious too. I love the chicken gyro. The plate comes with sooooooooooo much meat. More than enough for two meal bc it comes w 2 pitas . Anyways great customer service- great food- great prices
Another affordable “hole in the wall” with excellent sandwiches! I tried the pork chop sandwich- a Bone in pork chop lightly breaded and fried to crispy tender and juicy perfection with grilled onions. Their burritos are gigantic!
January 19, 2025 8:00 pm I didn't even plan on coming here, and I never knew about this place. I exited the freeway to go to the Pilot Travel Center. While pumping fuel, I noticed the building (you can't miss it), and I saw that the drive-thru was busy. So. I figured I'd check it out. I walked inside and noticed it was reinforced with bullet resistance acrylic in the ordering area. Makes sense given the area. Anyway the young lady, with braids, helped me (awesome attitude and smile), including being patient as I asked questions about the menu items. She got me squared away, and my food was prepared rather quickly and was delicious. I would have taken a picture of the burger, but hunger came before picture taking. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is thinking of stopping here
Ordered 3 steel sandwiches, 2 Mac and cheese bites, and a chicken gyro plate to go. The service was quick, as I had called it in, and it was ready in 15 min like they said. The Steel sandwiches were stacked with more meat than Lincoln's Carry Out and were cheaper. As for taste comparison, it comes pretty close! The chicken gyro was cut differently from what I'm used to, which is like the lamb strips. This was cut into bite-sized pieces. The flavor was very good. It comes with 2 pitas, onions, feta, Olives, tomatoes, banana peppers, and fries. The fries are not the best. They use the kind that you have to eat right off the fryer or they aren't good. The cheese bites are awesome and you get a lot for 5 bucks. I will be back to try some other things.
This place is truly exceptional, particularly for locals or truck drivers. Conveniently positioned right next to the Pilot Truck Stop across the street, it's a gem. My preferred choice is the number 7 beef with everything and without fail, the outcome is consistently incredible. There's no skimping here – the sandwiches are massive, more than enough for two people. The French fries are a delight, perfectly cooked with just the right level of crispiness, and whatever additions they incorporate enhance the overall taste. The price hovers around $13, but for truck drivers, financial constraints aren't a major concern, making trying this place absolutely worthwhile. Rest assured, you won't regret it. I've decided to make this spot a regular destination from now on. God bless their business
Awesome. It's their GRAND OPENING! We were greeted with a warm smile and very clean esthetic! I could not wait to open the bags and take pictures of our food. It was cooked fresh and that's a plus!! We ordered a 4 piece wing (lemon pepper) and they are whole wings with a ton of shoe string fries. We also ordered a lamb gyro, it is huge!! And of course the chi style hot dogs, and they are beef yay!! We live in Alabama, but we are born and raised Chicagoans so this was a treat to find this little gem on the corner of the TA truck stop. J&J fish were not open and we are glad because we would have missed great food. Check the pics out!
I ate a burger here it was great! The fries were good just needed a little salt. Next day I wanted fish. Do not get the fish! It tasted like it came from a trash can. I got a three piece and ate 3 bites. Rest went to the trash. The burger the day before was great!
