The service and food were top notch. Huge portions. My mom and I both had the prime rib. It was cooked perfectly. My dad had the porterhouse, while my partner opted for the liver and onions. Everything was delicious. The tables are placed rather close together, and once the restaurant fills it makes it difficult to get in and out of your seat for anything, and it also becomes very noisy. I would still highly recommend to others, and will be returning myself. We made a 2 and a half hour drive each way to give this place a try. Absolutely worth it!
Great meal. Haven’t been here in many years. Nothing has changed inside. Great local German restaurant. Went for the Prime rib and was not disappointed.
Phenomenal!! They don't accept cards but they have an ATM. I'm so sad we just discovered this gem, they are retiring and closing March 1st 2026. The food, service, and atmosphere was exactly what my family was looking for. The portion sizes are massive and everything was so delicious. We all had the combination plate and my husband tried the serloin. Their spetzel and German potato salad are easily the best I've found in the US, and the sausage tasted fresh! Our server was very kind and boxed up our leftovers for us. We hope to come back again before they close. Highly recommend
Very large portions! I had the large filet mignon which was huge and the wife had the lobster tails! Many other German favorites on the menu! We go there for birthdays and anniversaries. I've never had a bad meal there! Only open 4pm to 7pm Wed thru Sat. Cash only!
Always super food! Portions are unbelievable and flavor is always good. I loved the fried shrimp. Also tried a bite of the lamb chops, prime rib, surf and turf and the lobster for my family’s plates and everything was delicious. Their lobster is better than anywhere else in my opinion. Simple with butter because the actual flavor of the lobster is so good it doesn’t need a lot of added seasoning. The only thing I did not care for was the sausage but that is because I am not a fan of spicy and it had a little spice to it. The decor is not fancy which is okay with me. I would prefer good quality of food over mediocre food because paying for a fancy atmosphere. Waitress was attentive and answered questions and accommodated my family’s crazy requests and preferences. If you like great food and leftovers the next day this is the place to go in Kent, Akron, Canton or Youngstown. Just make sure to check the hours or call to make sure they are open because hours have been shortened, the waitress said since COVID hard to find staff. Also no credit cards, only cash or check- always been that way for as long as I can remember. I am sure this is to help keep prices down due to all the CC fees. They do have an ATM there but you may have to pay a fee. I always just pick up some cash in the way. IT IS WORTH IT!
My husband suggested this restaurant to my son & I. This was my 1st time here. Our waitress was excellent! She's definitely a people person. She spaced herself quite well checking on us. I ordered the grilled chicken dinner. Cooked to perfection. My husband & son ordered the prime rib dinner. Goodness! I have never seen prime rib that big before! Seriously! They are very large!. I have no doubt we shall be returning again sometime. The social distancing was also regarded of course. It was just a pleasant night out on the town.
Our waitress provided excellent service. The food was very good and the price is reflective of the quality and authentic recipes. They only accept cash and check. An ATM is available if you need it. The quality is consistent and their recipes are very good. I really enjoyed the Schnitzel and spatzels which had a wonderful brown gravy. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. The pasta salad portion was a bit small but tasty. The men's bathroom toilet was not particularly clean and the soap dispenser was completely empty, yet the sign opposite the sink says "All employees must wash hands before returning to work". I asked for the soap to be replaced and after waiting 10-15 minutes, they sent in an employee to refill the dispenser. They only filled it part way which is surprising since soap should be standard. Also, the faucet was in poor condition. Given the state of the men's bathroom, I wonder about the state of the lady's bathroom, and the kitchen area for that matter. The portions of food are pretty good size for the main meals themselves. Some of the sides are bigger and tastier than others. The food pictures speak for themselves. Overall, I would say the German food is the most important part of this restaurant. The cleanliness of the bathroom and building could be better in some aspects. The building is older and it feels like stepping back in time when compared to a modern day restaurant. I would come back again despite the lacking areas because the German food is high quality and hard to find elsewhere.
This was the BEST German food I have ever had in my life my mother got the beef tips and they were the greatest she’s ever had the portions are HUMONGOUS! It can be a little pricy for it but if you want to treat yo self then come here! The steaks are cut and processed by them they opened up in 1985 and we met a lady there who said back when it first opened it was extremely popular but sadly it seems they don’t get a lot of business anymore but everything is made form scratch and everything tastes amazing!! Please if you think about coming please come!!
