This is by far the best Haitian Caribbean restaurant in Montreal. The meats whether it’s pork griot or chicken has flavour and is tender. The same for their rice which has lots of flavour . They are generous with portions . They are consistent with the service. You don’t go wrong with them . Other Haitian restaurants the meat is hard to chew their rice lack spices won’t name them and lack consistency. Meli Melo never disappointed me all through the years.
My coworker bought the pâtés kodés for us a while back and last Saturday I just had a craving. First time visiting, it was a bit chaotic. For first timers, you need to order at the register first and they give you the order paper which you present in the back. There was not enough pâtés so the food lady asked me if I can wait for 15mns which I did. I also got the fried fish plate with the rice... The fish was so well seasoned and the pâtés were so good...And the lady at the register is so nice, not only with me but all the customers. Going back today... Mind you, I live in Laval
I really enjoyed the food. I had the griot platter. Rice is perfectly cooked and seasoned. Griot, some pieces were a bit too fried and dry, but still enjoyed my meal. I would definitely order again.
This has to be one of the best haitian food restaurants I've ever been too. 5 stars all the way. The flavors are amazing and its always fresh. I've been going there for years and I love them. Sometimes there's a bit of a line up, so be prepared to wait, but It's worth it believe me :)
One of the best Haitian restaurant in Montreal . The griot , rice, and mostly the Akras are always on top ! I am not a fan of the plantains. I feel like they can be crispier. But other than that it’s a very very very good restaurant/ market .
Been coming here since i was a kid, since i dont live in the area and decided to passby , took a griot and asked no grease! Still got some grease and gave it to my dog, and sadly some hard rice in the rice and small macaroni portion ! Overall still good
Favorite Haitian food! I always ask for extra sweet fried plantain and limenade!
The food is pretty good. The rice with beans and the fried plantain banana are my favorite dishes and I am always dreaming about them. Depending on the time of the day the meat might get dry, but the rice is always good. The portions are big, so one order can serve 2 to 3 servings.
That should be your first Haitian restaurant if you want to try Sticky Rice and Griot. The Djondjon Rice on the weekend is solid. Really generous with portion size, so you have the option of having leftover or eat it all and get hit by the ITIS… Choose wisely!
The pork there is good. I love the flavor, however the meat is a little bit hard for me to chew. My favorite part is the rice and beans - it is cooked with multiple flavors and not dry at all. I finish one plate in three meals!
Phenomenal rice. Inedible plantains. Portions are gigantic. Service is horrible: slow, disorganized. I feel like I'm bothering the staff when I go to this place. But I go back because the food is delicious. Everytime I tell myself "I'm not going back" then the dishes smell up my car and I'm in heaven. Everyone in the house loves the food. Stay away from the plantain and the griot. Unreliable.
