Wow, easy 5 stars, such great flavors and very authentic. No wonder they ‘ve garnered such high no of positive reviews. Thanks to Shiva, the manager who took great care of us at this Plano location. “You would never have had such a good chicken 65”, he taunted as we placed the order. Never had seen such confidence before, but they still had to deliver, I thought. And they sure did. Everything we ordered was sooo good, and felt just like home. Will be back to try more! Salem special chicken biryani 10/10 Chicken 65 appetizer 10/10 Panchu Parotta 9/10

First time visiting here and we’re definitely going back! Server, Shivagiri, was funny and engaging and guided us with selections. Dishes are richly spicy in the South Indian style – quite authentic! Standout was Elai Kottu, which had a parotta + omelet + chicken curry (mutton also available) layered, then wrapped in a banana leaf. Came with delicious raita and gravy. Idiyappam, a comparative rarity in DFW restaurants, was cooked to order and fabulous. We saw many items on the menu we would like to try on our next visit, which will be very soon.

Absolutely loved the food here. Tried this place on our way home to Houston and are glad we picked this place for lunch. Sambar was awesome, parottas were perfect, fish fry was good and chicken biriyani was just right. Will certainly be back for more on our next visit to Dallas/Plano area. New place so there were some teething issues with service but when food is this good you overlook those. Owner of the place was very accommodating and kind. Thank you for an awesome lunch!!

Went here last Sat for the first time. Had panchu parotta with mutton curry combo and a chicken biryani. Biryani was basmati TN style. It had the right amount of spices and quite flavorful. The panchu parotta was very good, and it paired well with the mutton curry. The service is very attentive. Live parotta station is good. The restaurant had a nice vibe, like dining in TN. If they keep the prices down and maintained the quality, they will do very well in the face of stiff competition in the DFW area.

The food was very good. It was hot and fresh. I ordered the Gobi 65 and the Paneer Biriyani, it was very very good. The only dish we finished was the Paneer Butter Masala and parotta combo. It was sumptuous , buttery, flavorful and delicious. Shiva was great with his service. Will definitely visit again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Delicious Authentic South Indian Non-Veg Feast! If you’re a true biryani lover or someone who appreciates rich South Indian flavors, Salem RR is a must-visit! I recently tried their Chicken Biryani, Chicken Kari Parotta, and Mutton Chukka, and every dish was bursting with authentic Tamil Nadu-style taste and aroma. The Chicken Biryani was exceptional — flavorful, perfectly spiced, and cooked with fragrant basmati rice that carried the essence of traditional Salem-style masala. The chicken pieces were tender, juicy, and soaked up all the biryani spices beautifully. What stood out most was the balance — not too oily, not too heavy, yet incredibly satisfying with every bite. The Chicken Kari Parotta was a real showstopper! The flaky, layered parotta paired with spicy, thick chicken gravy was pure comfort food. The kari had that homely, rustic touch with the right blend of pepper, curry leaves, and masala that hits the spot for anyone craving a hearty South Indian meal. And the Mutton Chukka — wow! This dish truly captured the authentic Chettinad-style flavor. The mutton was cooked to perfection — soft, well-marinated, and coated with a dry, roasted masala that was rich and full-bodied. The combination of spices and texture made it one of the best chukka preparations I’ve had in a long time. The restaurant itself is clean and welcoming, with quick service and a warm, down-to-earth vibe. The staff were courteous and made sure the food was served hot and fresh. Portion sizes are generous, and the prices are quite reasonable for the quality and quantity you get. Overall, Salem RR delivers an authentic South Indian non-veg dining experience that’s hard to find elsewhere. If you crave real flavors, not the watered-down versions you often get in city restaurants, this place will make you come back again and again. Highly recommended for biryani and spicy food lovers!

I really liked the bun parotta it had a comforting feel and the salan was delicious. The payasam was great too. Personally, I think that the chicken rasam soup could have been less spicy but everything else was definately perfect. Also If you are bringing your kids here I want to say that the food has extremely low spice in it . The experience was amazing and the food too. I would definately recomend it
