This is a cozy (dim lighting), casual spot. The service is friendly and very casual. The food is ok. The price of the meals was reasonable. I was bummed they did not have the spanakopita entree available. But they did have the spanakopita appetizer, it is fried, but good. I got the eggplant parmigiana, and my husband got the steak and potato. No complaints. We have been twice now and sat in different booths each time. On both visits food was on the wall in the seat. Doesn’t seem walls get wiped down often. But being dark inside it might be hard to see unless sitting next to it.
Angelo's is a restaurant that I have wanted to go to since moving to batesburg. The service was great !!!! The food was good. My favorite dish was the bourbon salmon. I would try other appetizers next time I go because I didn't really care for the two I had. They were not bad, just not the best either. The pizza was fantastic, and my spouse loved the shrimp alfredo. We got three desserts to go, and they were amazing also. We will definitely be back for another visit and I recommend this resturant if you want some decent/good food and not travel so far to the city.
Nothing to special about this place. It's a month and pop place. Food is blend. Pizza is good. However the atmosphere is very out dated.
Update: September 24, 2025 Birthday Celebration Meal. 2256 Views at time of Update Oh my goodness. Went full-on for this birthday meal. Crabmeat stuffed mushrooms, Side salad w/ Greek dressing, Tour of Italy and Veal Parmesan -- capped of with a shared slice of Baklava Cheesecake. My tummy is so happy. Folks, let me tell you, this family owned restaurant remains affordable -- $60 for the whole shebang. Oh, and a glass of Pinot Grigio. Can't beat it with a stick!! You must make plans to visit Angelo's very soon. Enjoy!! Update: March 25, 2025: Returned to Angelos's today to show off the place to my brother visiting from Atlanta. He and my husband got the "create your own" Calzone, while I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki Plate. (Photos below) Everything was very, very good. The great tasting food, prices, and portions are what keep folks coming back. You must get by soon. Remember they close during the week between 2 pm and 5 pm. Original Post: Angelos of Batesburg has been open for several years. We are just getting around to having a meal there. Cozy, welcoming feel to the dining room and quaint bar in the rear. Note: Angelos does a lunchtime service from 11 am - 2 pm, closes, and re-opens at 5 pm until 9 pm. Closed on Sunday & Monday. We arrived around 5:15 pm and 4 tables had already been sat. We started with Spanikopita appetizer. The spinach and feta stuffed phyllo was flavorful, light, and crispy. Black olives, tomato, and more crumbled feta garnished the plate. I had a pleasant glass of Pinot Grigio to accompany my meal. For our main course, I had the large Greek salad, and Jesse went for the Pastichio with Greek Green Beans. (Not to be confused with Pastachio as in nut - LOL.) A chilled, large bowl of fresh romaine and spinach were well complimented by feta cheese, Pepperoncinis peppers, Greek olives, and Cherry tomato halves. The "house" Greek dressing is de-lish -- has just the right zest. The Pastichio was incredible. My husband let me have a taste. Macaroni elbows mixed with ground beef, creamy bachamel sauce, and the kicker -- a ever so slight dusting of cinnamon. Oh my, what a combination. The portion was HUGE. I even snagged a couple of the Greek green beans - nicely spiced and cooked in a bit of juice from tomatoes. About half way through our meal, we noticed the dining room filling up. I figured they would have a healthy Friday and Saturday night crowd. The tables have a timely turn over rate, so I would not anticipate a long wait time even on busy nights. I'm afraid I missed a photo, but Jesse got a slice of their Mississippi Mud Pie. Outstanding!! Yes, I got to steal a small taste of the pie. I did get a photo of the dessert fridge. Be sure to give it a look. As we walked out around 6:30 pm, there were a handful of folks waiting for seating. There is a nice large bench inside. It was a pleasant evening, so a few folks elected to wait outside and chatting away. Angelos is part of a cluster of businesses and has ample parking. Convenient for locals and only 15 minutes off I-20 at Exit 39, should you be traveling.
Stopped in for a bite to eat at this hidden place - food was good - atmosphere was pleasant - and the highlight was dessert and the garlic knots - so delicious
I had a gyro, wife had a 'tour of Italy'. Service was outstanding, fast and attentive waitress got our orders right and took care of my request (onions for my gyro) with a smile. She was awesome. The food was great. Decent portions at reasonable prices. My wife had to get to-go box because her meal was so big. The restaurant is clean, nice decor, but not so fancy that you gotta dress way up. Jeans and a clean t shirt are fine. Young people take note, this is a great place for a date, a big step up from a pizza parlor type thing. Really enjoyed my dinner at Angelo's. Negatives are few and minor. The booth was uncomfortable. Seat poorly padded, too low and too close to the table. Next time, and Ill definitely be back, I'll sit at a table. And the music, which wasn't too loud or anything, but was classic rock. BonJovi, Tom Petty, etc. Is fine, but some Italian or Greek music would have been nice. Not really a negative, but maybe a missed opportunity to make it feel fancier that costs almost nothing. Overall, I really enjoyed my dinner and will return soon. I'd rate it like a 4.9 out of 5. Very good!
They just make really good food. Definitely one of the best in the Batesburg-Leesville area. They have a very good lunch menu which will fill up anyone and not cost any more than a drive-thru meal at McDonald's would. The difference is the food quality is much better at Angelo's. Good people and good food. You can't ask for more.
Nicole did a wonderful job great waitress and we had everything we needed. Food was good. But Nicole made me want to come back again thank you for the great service.
