Not the easiest spot to find. Tucked inside the InterContinental, this place is up the stairs and to the left side Really interesting restaurant. Think Oaxacan style with contemporary twists. Like grasshoppers in creative dishes and a vibe that's elegant without the stuffiness All the food is SO good. Tuna tostadas are incredible.. crispy base, silky yellowfin, zingy toppings Desserts are AMAZING. Some of the best flan I’ve ever had! Literally creamy PERFECTION Pro tip: order more appetizers and share amongst your group instead of individual mains Solid value in Polanco. Would go back just for the tostadas and flan!
Chapulín is a truly amazing spot for contemporary Mexican dining. The cuisine is outstanding, with delicious and innovative flavors. The atmosphere is elegant and inviting for a special meal, and the service is excellent. It's a top-tier dining experience.
Visited twice while staying at the hotel. The first afternoon lunch was a much better experience than joining just for a drink in the evening. Service was almost too attentive the first time with plates being taken before we were done, while the second time already the welcome fell short. Food was fine for a hotel restaurant trying to offer a creative take on classics, but both times the tostados were stale — despite tortillas being freshly made onsite. Maybe it was just off days?
It's a serene and beautiful space for dinner. We enjoyed each of our dishes especially the pork belly and chicken with tortillas. The beans and rice were a bit too salty but went well with the meats. Would return again.
The dining area was booked, but the host asked if I would be okay w/ a seat at the kitchen bar. The service was fantastic! We were able to communicate fine w/ my limited command of Spanish. They gave me a QR code to scan so I could get the latest menu offerings (which they seem to change often). They brought out a couple chips w/ three different levels of spicy, pepper salsas. When they tell you something is spicy, it means something different than what you get service in the States. Holy cow! Delicious, but I was already sweating before they brought out the appetizer. I ordered the Green Ceviche appetizer. I could only finish half of that before I had to tap out to save room for dinner. I planned on getting two different tacos, but one was going to be enough at this point. They were watching me as I tried the app. I’m so appreciative that they didn’t just bring everything out at the same time. I changed my dinner order to just the Gaonera New York Dry Aged taco. I was delicious. For dessert, the Wood Fire Cheesecake Berry Compote did not disappoint and the coffee to accompany it was the best. At the end, they brought a pufferfish decoration with some dessert cookies. The Chapulin is definitely worth a try if you’re in Mexico City! Thank you!
An excellent spot for Mexican delicacies in a high-end, fancy setting. The cocktails are superb, and the desserts hold their own. This well-rounded restaurant also boasts an excellent wine menu. There's nothing negative to say about this place.
