I spent 8 days in Mexico City and feel very lucky that I went here for dinner my penultimate night. Absolutely amazing restaurant. I wanted to try a bunch of different things, so kept to smaller dishes. First, I ordered the quesadilla with chicken breast (pechuga de pollo). I don't speak much Spanish, so I was trying broken bits and using Google Translate. The waiter was very helpful and understanding. I didn't know what a volcane was, so asked him, and he tried his best to explain the size and shape and ingredients. Asked for his recommendation and he said castillo, so went with it. Excellent choice!! Was getting full, but everything so far had so been so good, I kept going, and asked him to recommend me a burrito. He advised suadero, and again, fantastic as expected. This place made me feel like all the Mexican food I eat in the USA is fake. The staff were all so friendly. They have complimentary buffet-style trays of cucumbers, fried onions, salsa, lemons, etc. in the centre of the restaurant, and even those were all top-notch. I left a heavy tip which brought my total close to 200 pesos, but just the volcane, quesadilla, and burrito together cost slightly less than 150, which is an absolute steal for this quality of food. I also really liked te decor of the place - very colorful and vibrant. There were a lot of people, so must be a popular place. They have clean restrooms in the back.
This is our favorite tacos spot! We branched out last night and had tortas. One of suadero and the other, the española. Bth were delicious either way complex flavors that just went together The waiter brought salsa, grilled onions, lime wedges, and cucumber slices to the table and replenished it when we needed more. The televisions blared a variety of games but we were still able to talk. The food was as delicious as ever!!
Unassuming place. Affordable and the tacos were great. The al pastor was great and the potatoes, onions, and salsa were great! One issue though is there was no running water in the restroom! The toilets wouldn’t flush. No way to wash your hands. I hope this was just a fluke and that it normally works.
El Rincón Tapatío Bar is a great spot for a low-key, traditional meal with fantastic tacos. The pastor was packed with flavor, and I finally got my fix of lengua and tripa - both rich, tender, and with that slight funk I love. The agua guayaba was a refreshing treat to pair with the meal. The service was friendly and warm, and they also take credit cards which is a nice bonus.
So good that we came twice during our week in Mexico City. Great tacos and aguas frescas. We also tried their quesadilla, torta, and desserts, which were okay but the tacos are the part that stood out. They accept credit card & the staff were friendly and attentive but the bathroom almost made me puke. Order any taco and you can't go wrong.
Full menu and full bar with great prices. They’re also open late which was very convenient. Very helpful staff and quick service.
We orderedquesadillas, the beefsteak, and then there’s the plate they put down when you sit here, and then the menu is embedded in the table. You don’t have to ask for a physical menu or scan a QR code. Really! Food was outstanding, service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend. This is the best hole in the wall you’ll find in the neighborhood.
Second time having food from this restaurant. Does not disappoint. I grabbed a seat on the sidewalk and ordered fresh juice & small pollo alambre. Delicious & more than enough. Try them when in Centro district of Mexico City.
