The best restaurants are those that create an ambience and flavor that bring back positive memories, La Morenita does just that. This morning I decided to try a classic - Huevos Rancheros plate with flour tortillas. On the plate it looked great, though I was skeptical about the potatoes, I thought they would be undercooked by how light they were. I was wrong. They were perfectly boiled prior to being lightly fried without burning them to golden brown. This left them with an appealing texture and a lot of flavor. The beans were traditional without any added frills. I prefer them this way so they don’t overpower the eggs and salsa. For the main rancheros, long slices of onion perfectly sautéed to take the edge off but keep the flavor. The salsa is definitely made in house, it has a unique tomato flavor with a good bite. The bacon was a bit over crisp, but for breakfast it paired well; I would have taken it out two minutes earlier. It was nice, with good smoked flavor. The best part though were the tortillas! Definitely made in house, they were thick and delicious, reminding me of eating at my grandmother’s as a child. I give La Morenita 5 stars, and would highly recommend it if you’re looking for traditional and low key.
Great customer service, I ordered my food via phone for a pickup order. Everything we ordering was delicious. Staff was kind and had good recommendations. Mexican cokes always a great add on for a drink. Lemonade isn't freshly squeezed (powdered) but is still tasty. Will come back to try out some lunch or dinner.
Very good food very large portions very reasonably priced
I don’t have a picture of the Caldo de Res but that was So delicious so tender fall off the bone.
First time here really liked the meat had a top shelf steak taste, rice and beans good and their Tea was really really Good. I will come again here La Montianita. Went back Oct 25, 2020 I ate Caldo de Rez soft meat tasty caldo liked it alot. The Torta my girlfriend ordered that she is real picky but she loves this Torta
Very good authentic Mexican food. It's in kind of a shady area, we were the only Gringos in there. The tortillas were excellent took them back to the hotel for tomorrows breakfast.
I stopped by to get food to go. Since they knew it was to go they packed everything nicely to make sure it would be easy to take, without me asking for it. This is more secure than a regular cup holder, food was good and they also prepared it very fast. Thanks!
La Morenita is always a great place to eat. Great atmosphere, clean, well-kept, and friendly staff. The food, which ever plate or taco you decide on, is always in point! The salsas are nicely seasoned, not too spicy, not too bland, and the chips and salsa always fresh. I hadn't been in for over 2 years, but as always, the food was great! The breakfast tacos special 3x $3.99 is a great deal in this new weird economy I have returned to the States to. And from the menu the other prices are very fair as well. My chorizo and egg tacos were delicious, very generous amount in each taco, and lots of chorizo. The flour tortillas were soft and delicious, just like made-at-home ones, you know, the type you eat by the dozen with bitter on top. And of course, the coffee piping hot and perfect. Plenty of parking and accommodations for wheelchairs as well. The best part of the restaurant is the shrine to our Lady of Guadalupe, hence the name La Morenita. This is definitely one of my favorite, hole-in-the-wall, mom and pops, neighborhood restaurants, a gem in the Eastside of SaTown!
