We tried the Tsukemen and the combo set with Shio Ramen and Chashu. The noodles were excellent — perfectly chewy and springy, not soggy at all. The broth was served piping hot with a rich, flavorful finish that really stayed on the palate even after each bite. However, the chashu rice was a bit disappointing. The pork was quite dry and the portion was small, so it didn’t stand out as much as the noodles. Overall, the tsukemen and ramen were outstanding and definitely worth recommending — just the chashu bowl could use some improvement. I would come back for the noodles for sure!
This location is the second spot of Hokkaido Ramen Santouka I have visited. The food quality is very similar to the Dundas location but the atmosphere is far superior. Does not feel as cramped as the Dundas location. I had the lunch special with came with three pieces of pork or veggie gyoza plus an Azitama (marinated egg) I chose the pork gyoza plus the shio ramen. The shio ramen was very rich in pork flavour which a joy to savour. The ramen came with the typical wood ear mushroom, chashu pork, marinated bamboo shoots, green onions, Naruto fish cake slice plus a small pickled plum. What was missing was a square of seaweed which is pictured in their websites photo. Overall, the lunch special is an excellent deal. The thin ramen noodles were cooked with a slight stiffness and plentiful. If you ate in the Yonge and Eglinton area, Santouka is worth the visit.
The bar is set. All future ramen will be compared to Santouka. The black garlic ramen was so good. So flavourful. Service is top notch.
The ramen here is one of the best spots in the city. The broth is carefully handmade, and every ingredient is super fresh. We love their takoyaki and appetizers as well. They also have really affordable daily and lunch specials too. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for being in Midtown!
This place is a true local hidden gem! The servers were super friendly, and the ramen had an authentic rich flavor. While the ramen is priced a bit higher than other spots, my only small critique is the portion of toppings, which felt quite minimal. Even with the noodle upgrade to a large, it was mostly extra noodles rather than more toppings. That said, their happy hour made up for it with affordable draft beer, and the small bites like fried chicken and takoyaki were tasty and reasonably priced. A surprising highlight was the matcha affogato—absolutely delicious and a must-try if you stop by!
I came here to eat with a friend last week, on a weekday (forgot to write about it). It was around 4 pm, and they still had their lunch menu special going on all the way to 5 pm. The restaurant was quiet and not busy at all. The washroom door's locking mechanism is a bit weird (locks in 2 places). The servers were attentive. The lunch ramen special comes with an Ajitama egg & a choice of vegetable/pork gyoza (3 PC). I ordered the Ship Ramen & Pork Gyoza combo, while my friend ordered the Shoyu & Pork Gyoza combo. I also ordered the Wednesday Special, which was the Toroniku (Simmered Pork Dish) and an Oi Ocha (Unsweetened Iced Green Tea). My friend ordered Takoyaki (6 PC), and a Melon Soda x2 (cause it was so good, he said). The ramen was pretty damn good. The noodles were just right and chewy. The soup wasn't too salty and over flavourful (however, the more soup you drink, the salt does add up over time). The toppings were bamboo, shredded black mushroom, green onions, a naruto fishcake, and chasu. The Toroniku was so tender, but also pretty salty. Threw the extra green onions into my soup. The Ajitama egg was deliciously creamy. The pork gyoza was actually pretty good. The iced green tea helped cut through the extra salt. My friend and I enjoyed the food. The menu had some interesting food items I wished to try. I'll return to a Hokkaido Ramen Santouka in the future to try more of their menu. Overall, enjoyed their food. Has deals and discounts on certain days. They have happy hour, but I don't drink and my friend was driving. They also seem to have events hosted there as well (learn Japanese and eat ramen).
We came here and tried the Tonkotsu Ramen and the Spicy Miso Ramen. The noodles were fantastic — perfectly springy with a nice bite, never mushy, which made every slurp really satisfying. The broth was rich and flavorful, served piping hot, and you could tell it was made with care; it left a lingering savory taste that kept you going back for more. The toppings were mostly great — the soft-boiled egg was creamy and well-marinated, and the nori and green onions added just the right touch. The chashu, though, was a little hit or miss. Some pieces were tender and flavorful, but a couple were slightly dry, which kept it from being a perfect bowl. The atmosphere was warm and casual, the staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and everything felt clean and comfortable. Overall, the ramen itself was absolutely worth coming for — I’d happily return just for the noodles and broth. The chashu could use a tweak, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Definitely recommend for anyone craving authentic, satisfying ramen.
Stopped in for lunch. Friendly and efficient staff. Extensive menu. Daily specials. Opted for a special garlic pork ramen and an order of gyoza to share. Was very tasty. Well made and nicely seasoned. Food was prepared fast. Restaurant is nice, clean but basic. Will visit again.
