Visit Umami Ramen to taste well-served flavored ramen bowls. They have several Japanese dishes, but, so far, I have only tried their ramen. I would certainly visit again. Disclaimer: This was my first visit. Dish Recommendation: Miso Spicy Ramen. They have other Japanese dish options other than ramen, but, when on place called "Umami Ramen", you have to try the ramen! Price Warning: It is not very expensive but the bill will get above average with more than one drink and dish.
Without a doubt one of the best Japanese food experiences i’ve had, and believe me i’ve had quite a few. The service is just impeccable, they are always looking to help you, they are quick, effective and very kind. The dishes are very well presented, and have a very good portion (ordering to the center is very recommended) But the price can’t be ignored, we were 4 people, and the check was 550 MXN each with the tip included (15%). And for what it was, it’s really expensive. But everything else is perfect, the bathrooms are in mint condition, parking is not really a problem at those hours (9-10 PM) and the place is well established and well taken care of.
I will describe UMAMI Monterrey as follows.. Great Japanese food if you don't mind the place little "details" and I'm going to explain why. First of all we started ordering some entries, a 6 pieces Gyozas soo delicious (be careful as are real hot) then, a Tori Karaage that is basically japanese style fried chicken and soaked on different sauces that makes completely the difference and we're just starting. Worth to mention that with two entries was good enough for the 3 of us, I mean at the end is just the entry. Then Diana ordered if my mind isn't playing tricks, the Roka Poke and everything was crispy, very and richfully crispy. Then I asked for an UMAMI buns which seems that they mixed up a bit as it should be duck but they sent me a pork one. Anyways I love pork and loved the bread flavor. Then Mía ordered a Miso that was very good (my personal opinion on this I liked a ramen ordered at another UMAMI restaurant in Querétaro, look for my reviews and you'll find it) This one was great, despite that Diana and Mia didn't liked very the brisket, I did and never been a fan of that. One sad thing to say is that they ran out of Naruto at that time .. duh And we ordered lemonade that was ok, Te de Matcha that was like meh and an Akira that was super . So far so good, tasty and delicious. Will definitely return to UMAMI Monterrey as there's still a variety of dishes to try on the menu. And last but not least. The details I mentioned starting this review. Based on what I can saw, the restaurant is a location with probably 20 years and the air conditioning system isn't the best. There's this sense of humidity + cooking oil when entering the restaurant as the kitchen is right there, you can see what's cooking directly but the downside is that there's no good extraction of the kitchen odors. And lastly, the sofa couches are teared and most important, very dirty. As always, this has been my personal impression of the place and food. If you got interested, don't hesitate and go check UMAMI Monterrey.
It’s my third time here. The price is a little bit high and have to wait for a while of serving. But the food is really good and also the environment and service.
Edames are a must!!! Poke bowl excellent, ramen is perfect to share with two, and the dessert was just incredible.
The buns have a very good flavor. Though, they are a bit expensive. The ramen competes for the best in town. Good options on broth and good variety of toppings. The only thing I don't love about the place are the backless chairs. I know I don't have the best posture while sitting, but this makes it ten times harder. The music they play on the background doesn't match the place ambience. Overall, food is good, that's why the 4 stars.
Food was incredible and Juan gave an excellent service. A pretty great discovering
Ramen was good. Gyoza need more of vinegar or ponzu sauce. Bun filling was good but buns themselves were dry
