Great fine dining focused on in season Maine products. Try the mussels that are harvested a few miles away in the bay. Reservations fill up quick so plan in advance. Make a night of it and reserve a room upstairs in the Youngtown Inn.
This old farmhouse is one nice restaurant! It doesn't look like a restaurant from the road, but don't pass it by if you want a nice meal. Reservations required. We had the burrata appetizer, the Halibut, and the bolgnese. All were excellent and nicely presented. Service was on point and the decor is cozy. We've driven past this place for years and finally gave it a try. Will be back! Our new favorite restaurant in the area. Prices are reasonable... our meal, with a glass of wine, was just over $100
This is the best meal I've ever had in Maine. We're tourists from Philadelphia and we've been coming up here about thirty years. I've never felt compelled to review anything up here, and wouldn't were it not for Mary, our awesome, funny, attentive server who made great recommendations and was extraordinary. She deserves the most credit up front. But the food (Caesar salad, focaccia and anchovies; Bolognese; cod and duck breast; blueberry cake) was as good as any meal I've had in other great eating and drinking cities in the USA. The cacio e pepe cheese spread was the star. It simultaneously Maine but also expansive, creative, and cosmopolitan. A true diamond for the area, which is already filled with wonderful food and drink.
Dined on 1/31/2026. New menu item of venison was perfect. Sourcing from domesticated New Zealand stock mindfully avoided the typical tough, overpowering gamy taste of wild harvested stock. High quality ingredients with creative preparation and accompaniments delivered tender texture with delightful, complex tastes. Simply order it and sit back. Trust Chef to best all your previous venison meals and lift your expectations for every future one. Absolutely worth the price.
Wow! What a fantastic dinner we had at Aster & Rose. Wonderful setting and service above and beyond. Mary met us at the door and immediately made us feel like family. Warm and inviting. Our server Liz, described dishes and answered all of our questions. She was attentive without being smothering. She was friendly and kind. We started with the chicken liver pate with blueberries and pistachios. While it may not sound like your cup of tea I suggest giving it a try. Amazing flavors and complexity in texture and taste. I went with the halibut which was the best fish dish I have had in my life. Had it been cooked 30 seconds more or less it wouldn’t have been the same. Sheer perfection on the cook. Buttery and tender with just the right amount of seasoning. Served on polenta and kale in a lemon butter sauce with capers. My wife chose the stuffed shrimp and crab in a pasta ravioli that was sweet and tender. Exceptional flavors and presentation. Served with an excellent Chardonnay and sparkling water. Then we finished it all off with the olive oil cake served with fresh pineapple and coconut ice cream. I can’t say enough positive about this place. If I lived in the area I would be here weekly! Give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed. The best!
Very tasty dishes. Our first trip to Aster and Rose. Very impressed with the atmosphere and staff, service. The food selection in winter is limited, however, the food options are varied, and well flavored and prepped. The home made bread was great. We enjoyed the Saffron pasta, and the Mushroom Leek pasta.
We had a wonderful experience. From the atmosphere to the food itself. The food is some of the best I’ve ever had. I had the gnocchi and my boyfriend had the steak - our jaws were on the floor. The drinks from the bar met the same standard as the food. The building, decor and aesthetic were so beautiful and unique. The staff were very friendly, prompt, and attentive. We loved Aster & Rose and will absolutely be back again!
If there was a poster child for what fine dining should look like, it would show Aster & Rose in the Youngstown Inn. My wife and I went there for a quiet celebration and left with a new favorite. The atmosphere in this spotless early 1800's hotel / mansion was incredible. Our waitress Mary was exceptional . I have never had a server ask our names- nice personal touch. The salad for 2 was delicious as was our main entrée, ( A pasta dish and a swordfish meal ) was food was off the graph. Our culinary experiment at this Lincolnville gem (Close to downtown Camden) was among bit more expensive than most but worth every penny.
