Ix Kool

It was an absolute joy to experience the food and the atmosphere at Ix Kool. The freshly made Guacamole table-side was one of the highlights of the entire trip. We choose a bunch of dishes from the menu and each one did not disappoint! Try a selection based on your dietary but a good guide is maybe 4 to 5 dishes to have room left for dessert...for us, it was the fresh coconut ice cream which rounded off the entire experience nicely. Do try the freshly made local beverage creations..healthy, light, flavorful and aides the digestion. Overall an eye opener - compared to all Mexican food tried overseas in the last 40 years. Definitely reserve a table a few days ahead if you're going for lunch as they also host cooking classes and other tasting experiences which although don't get in the way but may affect your ability to come in and dine. Exceptional, fresh, traditional food with a cultural history lesson. In the top 20 dining experiences of my lifetime. Food was either prepared fresh at the table side or was brought out unbelievably quick. Make reservations here your last night in Cozumel.

We booked the Mayan cooking experience and - dayum - are we glad we did. We were shown how to make two dips in our molcajetes, learned about the history and ingredients of Mayan flavors, and got to make our own tortilla pop. After that, we were served several incredibly tasty traditional Mayan dishes and drinks. Our 8 and 10-year-old loved the food, the story, and interactive experience as well. Staff was superfriendly and I hope to be able to visit again one day and try other dishes on their menu.

We went to have the Tequila & Mezcal tasting experience and was extremely fun and delicious! The experience is not only very informative, it’s really a trip for your senses. We got samples 4 tequilas, 5 mezcals, and like a small 4 steps appetizers that were classical Mayan cuisine. I’ll recommend this experience to everybody!

Juan and Nancy were so accommodating! Food is always fantastic! My most favorite Mayan restaurant. Every time I am in Cozumel I come to dine.

This was the most delightful Mayan cooking class!! Chocked full of history, great food, and learning. We had a party of 4 and we did this on a stop on a cruise ship. Location is beautiful, super close to the docks and air conditioning is super!! The food was pork base. The teachers and chefs have good English skills and they make you feel like family. I would definitely do this again!!

Best food, drinks, and service I’ve had in Cozumel. This traditional Mayan restaurant offered an inspired menu of delicious, fresh, and surprising food and drinks. We ordered vegan and non-vegan options (everything we had was incredible). The cocktails and Mayan traditional drinks were excellent. Alex, our server, was knowledgeable and friendly. Amazing experience all around and I highly recommend.
